Drennan Looking To Kick On This Season

Michael Drennan is looking to have an impact on the first team this season, as he wants to be the next youngster promoted up through the ranks by Paul Lambert.

Speaking to the Official Site the Republic U19 star said he was hoping to emulate Andi Weimann's development last season where he made a name for himself with a few tasty goals in the league, and to be honest whilst results haven't gone well for the second string so far in pre season, Drennan has done himself every favour by finding the net five times in our three matches so far.

'Andreas is a player who I try and copy my runs from. I look and see what he does, he scored a lot last year and got his chance and took it. Hopefully that is what I will do. I will keep my head down and keep everything going and hopefully go where he is.'

Speaking more about his start to pre season, Drennan says he's flying and his confidence is through the roof so he's looking forward to a very good season.

'It's doing a lot for my confidence, it will do me good getting a few goals in pre season and keep me going nicely into the season.'

Showing his character, Drennan also adds:

'It's not just me but it's the passes coming from Graham Burke and Jack Grealish and also when DJ plays. It's good having them there because they can see the passes and the runs.'

For those who pay attention to the second string, Drennan is a name that conjures bags of potential, as well as a few others, and he's certainly the right age now to get a cup taste or a loan spell out to bring him on further in his development.

One to watch for sure as the season progresses.

Grealish Burke Drenin Johnson Carruthers Siegriest etc definetley potential just hope they can make an impact when given a chance in a cup game or league game in the near future, nothing better than seeing youngsters play in the first team and do well.
CLIVETHEVILLAN
Took his goal well last Saturday & seems to have that important knack of being where he needs to be. From what I saw on Saturday he still needs to work on his approach play, but a definite prospect.
Gordonsleftboot
Keep banging them in and he's bound to see a bit of first team action even if it's coming off from the bench for 15-20 minutes.
Pride of Lions
Get him toughened up. There must be a Championship club needing a striker option that he can be loaned to.
