Gabby Feared Serious Injury

Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted that he first thought he had received some real damage in the game against Chicago.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Gabby said:

'I thought it was a really bad injury at the time so it's a relief to be told that it's not going to keep me out for too long. We played really well again as a team and obviously it's disappointing to pick up an injury, but I'm told it's not as bad as it could have been.'

Gabby is set for a scan today in Portland, so hopefully as I've said previously, that will clear everything up and it will be only a fortnight issue. In the meantime both Gabby and Darren Bent will receive treatment from Roddy MacDonald and will remain with the team.

As it stands, Paul Lambert is also going with the fortnight theory:

'I think Gabby will be a couple of weeks to be honest. It's his knee and I think he just turned arkwardly. I was talking to the medical people and they think it's not too bad. Gabby's very quick and I thought his whole round game was excellent.'

Glad to hear it's not too serious.
Pride of Lions
pain though isn't it, him and Bent both starting pre-season and then both pick up knocks!
The Fear
Could of been a lot worse, luckily the season isn't just around the corner and they can still have a decent pre season training and get their fitness upto speed before the season kicks off.
Villa 4 Ever
As long as they are being treated by Ronald MacDonald they will be fine.
Gerry Hitchins
It's Roddy not Ronald! He's treating him for fitness, not fatness!

I always have a doubt on these issues. It is the old cynic in me. Gabi's injury is hopefully a 'two week' one at worst. But I can't help thinking that we will not be seeing him again any time soon. PL is cute enough to know that you do not let other clubs know if one of your players is going to be out for any length of time. Should he need to go into the transfer market because everyone is aware of a serious injury to one of the players this simply inflates the asking price. As I said, I am an old cynic, but if Gabi is available at the start of the season I will cut Fears hair free of charge.
