Bent Committed To Villa
Darren Bent has said he wants to keep the captain's armband in the absence of Stiliyan Petrov, and he hopes leading the side will prove he is committed to the club.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Benty said:
'I spoke to a couple of people pre season about being the captain and it does show I'm committed to Aston Villa. I've always said to people that I'm committed to Aston Villa, that I want to stay here and I've got no intention of leaving, and hopefully me getting the armband shows people that. If I can hang onto it, I'll be delighted, and that's a big goal of mine.'
On Paul Lambert, Bent added that the boss had been clear with each player what he wants and expects from them and the players are responding:
'I know straight away all the boys in the dressing room and buying into his ideas and his tactics and we're all pulling in the same direction.'

Its all positive stuff coming out of Villa these days, absolutely great and about time, this season i think we may surprise a few so called ''experts'' like Hanson Lawro etc, DB9 firing and getting supplyed is the key to Villa finishing in a tp half position, Lambert has got them all buzzing and trying to play the right way good times my fellow Villans good times ;)

No Darren, being captain doesn't demonstrate commitment. Showing passion, energy and leadership on the field shows commitment... at least until the next transfer window. Banging in 20+ goals will help too. You're a dumb ass footballer, let your feet do the talking.

Why is he dumb? He is trying to step up and he scored 9 before his injury in a poorly performing team. Without the injury he'd have broken 20. Jeez, take a step back, guy is quality. What do you want him to say, villa is crap I want out!?
The fear
Thats a bit OVER THE TOP to say the least to make out he's dumb for showing he wants to be here and captain the side, i would understand if DB9 handed in a transfer request calling him a name or somthing like that but for saying this??? Fear is bang on the money here if you can score 9 oals in a team that sits back and creates very little what can he do in a team under Lambert's management that does create for him, we have a striker who is a poacher, and he deserves a bit more respect IMO

Well if DB9 is banging them in on a regular basis, which is what he does anyway, then he's setting a tremendous example to the rest of the squad, because he's doing his job to the best of his abilities. What more could you want from a captain?

Thats good news as far as I'm concerned, but he needs a quality striker to play alongside him,...... and currently, we don't have one.

Lol. I'm suprised everyone can't see how dumb he is but as he's our most expensive player and gets on the scoresheet (even if everyone else is doing the graft while he takes the glory,) occasionally, I can see how most are drawn to the false reality of him being a good player. Delph was captain. Now there's a real footballer.

He's only committed to Villa because no-one else wants him FFS. Why have bent when you can have a striker that has more than one skill. Seriously, what other position could he play?? And I don't mean CB. He can't even play in the hole, as a pairing, out wide as a striker, a target man. No he's just a shoulder of the last man 1 touch finisher. May not be 10 to the dozen but that's because they're not needed or wanted in an 11 a side team game where we don't want to carry passengers.... You did ask Bill ;-)

He scored 9 before his injury but was goal hanging for 90 minutes while the other 9 outfield players were all defending for 90 minutes. How many of these goals did he create himself???? Answer none. How many did he create for others whilst scoring these 9?? Answer none. Really don't see the hype and think that he's nowhere near an invaluable cult hero which some are suggesting.
