Koeman Trying To Force Our Hand?

Ronald Koeman has said we are interrupting his pre season plans with us not yet progressing a deal for Ron Vlaar.

Not quite sure why it's an issue, there's plenty of time left and Vlaar remains their player, anyway, the Birmingham Mail carry quotes from the Dutchman:

'It's good when you invite a player and give him a positive feeling but it seems to me that then you need to try a direct transfer and complete it if you want the player. They have so much money, but they do not pay for him. If I can't be guaranteed that Ron continues here then in the final friendly matches I will play without him.'

I'd imagine this will kickstart a fair bit of discussion; are we arguing over the fee given the so much money crack (but I thought he had a release trigger), are we pursuing other options or are we simply waiting to shift somebody out first?

Its gotta be the fee we are reluctant to meet, this rumour of a release clause can not be a figure like 3/4 million otherwise we wouldhave probably signed him already, nah i think its 8million they are demanding and Lambert only willing to pay 4/5million i read somewhere recently Lmabert saying there may well be players leaing aswellbut that this will not hamper him buying players so its gotta be the fee.

Maybe just lazy press talk again. I also remember Lambert saying recently that it's difficult to talk to people because of the time difference while he's in America. At the end of the day we will be trying to get the best deal possible and I can't see anything wrong with that.

MSvilla is spot on, nothing will happen until we get back from the USA.

I agree with him, would be a complete different story if a team was doing it to one of our players while Lambert was trying to figure out his team for the season. Liverpool and Downing come to mind...A bit of communication with Feyenord wont hurt.

All a bit odd I must admit, I can't imagine the tour of the USA has helped regarding communication from Lambert, but surely Vlaar and Feyenoord were aware that would be coming up. But if it's down to a fee then the suits would be taking care of that and the US trip shouldn't be interfering. I'd hate to think we're waiting to shift someone out, although hopefully ol' Marty will come in and pay over the odds for Collins and Warnock.

We must have had permission to speak to him otherwise we'd be hearing about "our tap up" by bringing him over i.e. a fee has been agreed or we did it on the basis of meeting the get out clause. The player has stated he wants to come and therefore we had verbally at least agreed his wage. This must be because of one of two or three reasons: 1) we need to ship someone out first 2) We are looking an other target and this is backup 3) We are waiting to get back from the states after which PL will have assessed the squad. My money is on number 1.

daveyboy you may be right but we still have spaces form departures made previously fby players bing sold or released, so i tend to think its to drive the price down, im sure we have done this before with a player and as P.AVFC says we have had it done to us, i think Lambert may go back in for th Ramis defender i Feyenoord play hardball and do not drop the fee?
