Woo hoo!!!

Does anyone remember how long it took to put the screens up under Deadly? And this has been done in a couple of months!!
McGrathisgod
Finally! Fear might stop moaning now :-)
jonah
But where are they putting the Sky dish?........ Lol
Pride of Lions
Unfortunately as we have so many fans who can't be arsed to turn up and support the club this indicates that any development of the North Stand has been put on hold. Since his arrival Randolph has made Villa the 4th biggest NET spenders in the league. This is on top of the infrastructure money he has pumped in on other areas of the ground and Bodymoor Heath etc. We should have repaid this investment with money of our own and filled out Villa Park every single week. Had we have done this Villa Park would now be a 52,000 all seater stadium and we would be flying. But instead we seem happier not to fill the ground, stagnate in our support and be happy the the club is puttting in and new tv in the corner of the ground. I feel let down by part time supporters and absolutely no joy at our new television.

Wow....talk about having an agenda...VOTH bet your one of those folks that doesnt want to win the lottery jackpot incase it "changes you"
Mat777
VOTH, as I understand it, the screen can now be replaced because the work that it was removed to enable has been completed, this was never connected to the redevelopement to increase capacity.
villan of the north
Aye, it wasn't removed for the North Stand redevelopment, it was when they re-did the corner for the away entrance, Randy preferred it without, but the constant moans from us fans they have listened to and are putting it back.
The Fear
No Matt. I would win the lottery and buy yachts, cars and property all over the world (if I had any money left after buying the Villa). However I want Villa Park full and the very fact is that if we had been filling it every week we wouldn't even be having this discussion on a new tv in the corner of the ground. But ho hum, if you are all happy to stagnate and be grateful not to expand so that you can watch a tv showing replays of the game you are already at then that tells its own story. I am sure people would be jumping up and down and moaning if the team stagnates though???? Fear - I never said it was removed for NS development, but the simple fact is that if we filled our ground this situation would not even have arisen because the ground would have been developed. When Sunderland, Arsenal, Manure, Spuds, Chelsea, Newcastle all pull ahead of us in terms of our global attraction then at least we know some fans are happy because making the club bigger and better is not important as long as there is a tv in the corner of the ground - in an area of the ground that should be developed to house more fans.

The photo at the top of this article shows VP with the screen in place. Maybe some one could do some imagery work on this and remove the screen and replace it with a corner full of supporters. I know what I would rather have. But it seems I am in the minority as most contributors to this article think a tv screen is more important than about 4000 extra supporters spending 35 each every other week. It must just be me??
voiceoftheholte
Fact is VOTH you were using a bit of good news to have a dig at our own fans - putting a dampner on a nice fluffy article (sorry Fear) And after last season - more seats in the North stand arent exactly a priority.....not saying that the screnn will solve anything by the way
Mat777
Matt. I have not had a dig at any of the brilliant supporters who put their money into the club. And what you see as good news (a nice new tv screen), I see as a sad reflection on the supposed Villa supporters who only turn up when the sun is shining, the wind is from the West or we are playing somebody who they see as worthy opponents. And last season only highlighted our fluffy support as even when we were having Wembley visits and were in the top 6 we regularly failed to fill our ground. But in the spirit of being positive - woo hoo we have a new TV. Lets all have a disco lets all have a disco! You are my Villa my only Villa and the new tv's made my day. You'll never know just how much I love it, please dont take my tv away. Is that better? Still rather the corner be filled with seats though :o)
voiceoftheholte
Dont you mean fans not seats ? Only messing......I see where youre coming from and i get it - but the way I see it - ALL villa fans are brethren in my books, fair weather or die hard...
Mat777
Agreed on that Mat. I have done many articles on the virtues of fans. For many it is impossible to go to all games due to finance, work, family, location, disability and many other reasons. I have a gripe with whingers who demand that more money is spent on this, that and t'other, but who fail to put their own money in. Like all of us I just want a full Villa Park with all four sides giving massive vocal support and matchday back to being enjoyable. UTV. The 19th Minute.
voiceoftheholte
VOTH has no agenda, he just wants Villa Park full of genuine fans, get off his case FFS ................ I agree with him, not interested in a giant TV TBH, our marketing experts should go round schools and offer two game packages to kids and their families to get them into the culture of going and enjoying a match day experience. Then maybe give them a new customer discount with incentives etc... Fans and supporters are two totally different entities ..... my stepson is 29 and been a Man Utd FAN all his life, never seen em play in the flesh though ! I took him to Villa last season against Arsenal, it was his first ever visit to a professional game and it blew him away being there with all the atmosphere (lucky it was our only good game of the season at home !!), he even came along to the Next Gen games after that and admitted that had he been taken to Villa Park as a boy he would more than likely be a Villa supporter now ......... get local folk involved and interested instead of choosing a top four side off Sky !!! UTV

I gree with' The Voice' about the importance of a stadium being filled with fans and supporters and not just hi-tec wizardry. 'Milan's' comment about his stepson was very interesting. I lived down the road from VP as a child. My old man wasn't into footie so I was never taken to a game. However, I could hear the roar of the crowd on the wind on matchdays. The old man would say 'that's Villa Park'. The old ground had a mythical air about it. Thus, I became a Villan. The club can only continue to survive with renewed support from existing fans and new 'recruits' to the cause. This is difficult. A lot of youngsters are attracted to success -- Manure, Chelskov and now Citeh, too. Villa can compete on the pitch with those clubs only up to a point. Off the pitch the fans and supporters are the key to more people joining in. How do we do it then?
VillaWillRiseAgain
It would be terrific if we could bring the culture of the continental 'ultras' to VP. Banners, flags, drums etc would be terrific. It would also be great if we could set up an 'Ultra' group. It would obviously be non-political, non-violent and non-racist. It could liase with the club via someone like Ian Taylor? Villa could also create ties with Borussia Dortmund. Why? They are also a provincial club who have won the European Cup. Despite being 'provincial' they have the highest attendence of any club in Europe -- 80,000+. Their fans also appear to have created a non-confrontational form of 'Ultra-Culture'. They also, of course, have another thing in common with Villa. One of their distinguished old boys is our new manager. These are just ideas. Shoot them down if you like. Would like to hear any other suggestions as to how to 'create' more Villans.
VillaWillRiseAgain
Btw, That should have been Villa 'fans' could create ties with Dortmund 'fans'. Or 'Supporters' if you like. What the clubs do is, of course, largely out of the hands of those in the stands and on the sofas.
VillaWillRiseAgain
vwra - I do not want to promote other groups but I suggest you google Brigada 1874. Might be of interest to you. If you are a regular visitor to Villa Park you will already know of a movement that is gathering force.
voiceoftheholte
Cheers voth -- No, I wasn't aware. No longer live in Brum.
