NO To Owen. NO To Carroll. Bye Bye Collins!

Following .... The Obligatory Annual Michael Owen To Villa Link! we have an update!

Mat Kendrick at The Birmingham Mail, currently on tour with the team in the US of A asked Lambert who said on the rumour he had met with Owen...

"No, that won`t happen." Adding they hadn`t made an enquiry.

"That`s a non-starter. He`s a top player, no doubt, a really top player, but that`s for another team."

And following the Andy Carroll links, see: Andy Carroll from Liverpool: Lambert Admits He'd Like England Striker and Andy Caroll not available on loan: Ooh Ahh Ron Vlaar?! + Andy Carroll Update

Lambert, despite previously hinting he would be interested, said: "There`s nothing on Andy Carroll, no."

The latest on Carroll is that Liverpool won`t loan him and want £16m. He wanted to stay and fight for his place and will have talks with Brendan Rodgers.

Hey ho.

The Mirror also link James Collins to Sunderland again, can`t be bothered to link, it is no different to the other links previously and it is bound to happen, well, he`s bound to go somewhere.

Actually think its a shame about Collins, would much rather have him than Dunne.
AVbornandbred
Take Dunne and Warnock with you and we wilt throw in Mutton as a freebie too

I think they both have their faults. i think dunne reads the game better than collins and has a good working relationship with shay (see ireland qualifying campain for the euros). so on ability merit i think he is there, however, he is older than collins, i think probably on higher wages and at times last season he looked on the decline and collins was happy to put his head/body anywhere. Collins however doesnt read the game as well and i think the gatecrasher thing damaged him massivley in PLs eyes. also maybe we will have the problem of trying to sell both as they were both poor last season. If someone is bidding for collins we should seize the opportunity. I would prefer we traded them both in for younger, fitter better models. but getting rid of one is better than been stuck with both

I have a new song: Richard Dunne, Dunne His legs have gone, have gone, Send him to MON, to MON Richard Dunne, Richard Dunne

Would rather keep Collins over Dunny any day of the week having said that for me both should go for the direspect shown both Villa & Cowans never mind the latest bit of stupidity involving Herdy.

Id keep Collins. By far our best defender. Get rid of Dunne, he's passed it now.

If you guys don't want hoof ball at VP this season then Collins must go, he cannot play football he only hoofs it away...Speed took him out the Wales team as he did not fit in with his football philosophy.

In what world is Collins worth keeping? Yes, he throws himself in the way of the ball and gets his head on it, but this is no longer the 1900's, the game has moved on and top division defenders need more about them, such as speed, ball control and the ability to bring it out of defence. I'd keep Dunne around for his experience, but don't start him every game. At times he looks world class. Sadly consistency is not his strong point.

I can see that working to the tune of Robin Hood, Grizzly! Richard Dunne, Richard Dunne it seems his legs have gone Richard Dunne, Richard Dunne, send him back to MON Football brain like wood, some say he's still good Richard Dunne, Richard Dunne, can he still run?

I would keep Collins, can't fault his effort.

If it was a toss up between Collins and Dunne, I'd keep Dunne... but only just.
