Lowton Needs To Adjust

Lowton Needs To Adjust

23 year old Matthew Lowton has said training with the lads for the first time and seeing the facilities were quite surreal, but he knows he can't be overawed when he's on the pitch.

Speaking to the Official Site he discussed his time in Hungary where he had to fend for himself as a 17 year old, and he believes it's set him up perfectly to make the jump into the Premiership - he just needs to remember he's there on merit and he shouldn't be starstruck at the names he'll come up against.

If the game at Burton was anything to go off, he'll settle in just fine!

'I was overwhelmed the first time I saw the training ground, the players in the dressing room, the manager, everything is higher profile and it just seems surreal. Seeing the manager and hearing his ambitions for the club, hopefully we can help the club put last season behind them and move on and get back up in the top half. As much as they're massive names I need to get over that kind of thinking, I don't want to be thinking that when I'm playing with them. I need to get into the right frame of mind and hopefully I can fit in and do well.'

As said it was a solid and lively debut for 45 minutes from him against Burton, so if he carries on in that vain he'll be perfectly fine. The tour will do him good being isolated with the players so he should return to England one of the lads.

I'm really excited by Lowton! I have no idea what his best position is though, does anyone??

BEst position must be RB if he considers his technique, pace and getting forward his strengths... He highly doubt he would play CB ahead of Clark and Vlaar (if he comes in)... Regardless of his ability I wouldn throw a guy coming from league one straight into CB against a Rooney or Aguero...

As the lad says, he will have such a buzz playing and learning his trade step up in the prem!makes a change from prem players we have got from other clubs who see us as another pay day! Every thing about villa at the moment fills me with tingles like I used to get as a kid on Christmas eve!
