Feyenoord's sporting director has said that Ron Vlaar's buy out price is certainly not the cheap option for Aston Villa, but we are apparently prepared to meet it.
After the twitpics yesterday leaving most fans debating whether the man in the photo was Ivan Ramis, it has turned out it's another left field pick by the new manager in 27 year old Dutch centre halve Ron Vlaar, who has already said he is more than considering joining us.
Now Feyenoord's sporting director, Martin Van Geel, has confirmed everything and said Ron wants the move.
'Ron visited Birmingham yesterday and wants to continue his career at Aston Villa. It's true that he has a buy out clause. I won't reveal how much but we're obviously talking millions here.'
Feyenoord have apparently taken two official teamshots this season, one featuring Vlaar and the other not, so they are definitely expecting his departure. With the buy out clause rumoured to be in the region of £3m he could well turn out to be a complete steal for Lambert going off how highly rated he was by Feyenoord fans, and as many have commented on the forum, you generally don't tend to give players and their agent a tour of the facilities unless a deal is nigh on done.
