Unoial Villa News...

Just two Villa press guys impressions of Paul Lambert and maybe a hint of what is to come for the Villa this season? Yup, it is only a friendly, but it is a nice 'early doors' glimpse into what Lambert is looking to bring to Villa and the fans... The Shape Of Things To Come For Villa?

Bent stepped up in the friendly and asked to be Captain... that made me wonder.... How About Darren Bent For Team Captain?

Last week we did an article (and a poll) asking: Would You Have Andy Carroll At Villa? Looks like there is a little substance to the link. Paul Lambert was asked about a loan move for the Liverpool and England striker and said: Lambert Admits He'd Like England Striker

By Dan Harrison at The Pirelli Stadium A classy debut strike from Brett Holman ensured a winning start for new manager Paul Lambert. Although Villa fell behind early on to Robbie Weir's spectacular long-range effort, their football at times was as glowing as the new lime green away kit. Report: www.avfc.co.uk

Fieldy: Oh how I hated doing these last season, same old excuses, same old comments, same old BS like playing four forwards...how quickly things change! Speaking to the Official Site after the 2-1 victory over Burton, Paul Lambert said he was delighted with both the effort, and more importantly, the quality of the lads on show today. The boss said he was pleased to start the campaign by gifting the traveling fans a victory, and he was pleased to see our newboys settle in so well - I assume it goes without saying that he was also pleased to see our existing team work to his style of play in terms of the passing instead of constantly hoofing it! Lambert's First After Match Verdict

Mat Kendrick said at the Burton game: Albrighton, Ireland and Delph sitting in the stands in front of us. All three have slight knocks, I'm led to believe.

Clivethevillan on the maturing of Villa fans... I have been thinking just lately how lucky we Villans are to have a manager almost every Villa fan wanted to steer the club back in the right direction towards the top half of the league, I am missing watching Villa as ever but I have to admit for the first time ever I realise we all needed a well deserved break to recharge our batteries after such an emotionally draining season which after being a Villa fan for approximately 24 years of my life I had never experienced anything like it nor do I want to again for that matter.
