Why The Four Missing Villa Players Yesterday

A few people have asked why some of the players weren`t involved at the Burton Albion game yesterday and some are putting 2+2 together and coming up with exits.

Wrong!

Jean Makoun is waiting for a work permit.

Then three players have knocks.

Stephen Ireland has an injured toe.

The luckless Fabian Delph an injury to his knee.

Marc Albrighton has a foot injury.

All three were in the stands yesterday. Shame, they don`t get any luck injury wise at all those three, about time that changed and they can get back involved and show us what they can do.

I`ve seen no word on how serious these injuries are or how long they are expected to be out, so hopefully they are just knocks and they`ll be ready for the US tour. As we explained yesterday, Makoun is unlikely to have his work permit situation sorted by then.

Albrighton has a broken foot...will be out for 10-11 weeks after surgery. Bit of a blow

i think Delph maybe forced to retire early since he has arrived he has been suffering from this knee injury shame we have nt seen the best of him

Yes, the ankle injury he got was career threatening, then he did his knee. Terrible for him.

When did that happen Randy Stand, I've either not seen anything on it, or if it was end of last season, I've totally forgotten (with the brain ache pressure, my memory is not normal until it goes back down!)
The Fear
Out of them the most dissapointing for me is Albrighton as Delph will go on loan and benefit that way. I think he really needed to get a full and proper pre season behind him and hit the ground running after last year. However, he is young and should recover quick enough, just means he will be playing a little bit of catch up compared to the rest. Really interested to see how he develops and see this season as possibly the biggest in his career to date, but a minor set back i suppose and with a long season ahead he will get opportunities and the chance to show us he has what it takes!

Was a rumour i heard in training JF. Then the OS confirms its a foot injury and then Lambert says could be a while and its a blow. 2 + 2= 4.

It's a shame if Makoun misses the US tour, it would've been nice for him to bind with the team especially with the time he's spent away. Btw, how did the Villa back four line up yesterday with 3 fullbacks and CC as the only recognised CB? Or is Lowton a CB and that is where he played?
VillaHippo
Yes Hippo he played CB and did very well by all accounts.

Well Injured or not Villa should get a boost from "New manager Syndrome" All the players will be wanting to prove themselves to the boss. Long may it continue.

Didnt Delph get his injury while on loan to Leeds last season?
