Petrov Thanks Fans For 19th Minute Support

Stiliyan Petrov has thanked the fans for their constant support of him on 19 minutes during games last season.

Speaking to the Official Site about the fans' reaction to news of his battle against acute Leukaemia, our Captain said.

'It's great and I really appreciate what they are doing. It gives me good strength and it's a great help as well. The support for me has been here, it has been around the world, it has been in Bulgaria, everybody has been asking how I am doing. I have a lot of hope and I haven't stopped believing since the start and I will never stop believing. My family believe as well. I will keep fighting.'

With Stan determined to battle on, I'm pretty sure the fans will continue to play their part in their support of him and the charity drives that have been undertaken by fans and the club.

Probably the most important player we have had in the last four seasons. Many moan about him, but he's one of those players that grafts, fights, is passionate and does a lot of work that fans never recognise which is often the case with top holding/combative midfielders. No one in his position on the pitch ever gets any credit as they're not goal scorers and rarely go to far forward. De Jong, Carrick, to name a few.

The 19th minute. Every game. Home and away. We will continue to let Stan know he is in our thoughts. We look after our own.
