Grizzly: Whilst watching television one morning, a segment on J Lloyd Samuel popped up. I confessed that I had long since forgotten all about the the 32 year old ex-Villa and Bolton fullback. On reflection, I'm not sure there was a lot I remember. J Lloyd was being interviewed about playing football abroad. The talk quickly swung round to the fact that he was open to other footballing opportunities; that he'd consider all offers. It is transfer season so I thought no more of it when he assured us that he was equally prepared to stay at his current club. I did have to put my toast down, however, when he informed us that his current club was Esteghlal Tehran FC. In case you are poor on geography, that's in Iran. Full article: Forgotten Villa Man

New poll: How Many Players Will LEAVE Villa & Who? and as it says on the tin: The Who Would You Get Rid Of Thread

Paul Lambert has been unequivocal today in stating that he is only interested in players who can offer the club something, and not those who are only interested in what they can take. Lambasting the 'get rich quick' mentality that has invaded football (not just players either to be fair) Paul Lambert over the last few years, the gaffer was almost Churchillian in suggesting that players should be asking themselves what they can do for Aston Villa instead of asking what Aston Villa can do for them, well it wasn't even a suggestion really, any player not asking the right question here won't get a look in. Full quotes: Journeymen Days Are Over!

Paul Lambert has said returning Brad Guzan will get the chance to challenge Shay Given, and he hasn't been brought in to simply make up the numbers. Article: Guzan Won't Be Making Up The Numbers

The Sun say that Villa and Sunderland will battle it out for Real Mallorca centre-back Ivan Ramis. See: Spanish Centre-Back Linked To Villa

Roddy MacDonald has return to Villa Park as Head of Sport & Exercise Medicine (strange title, I think I'll just call him the Quack - shame he wasn't here last season as that was bloody quackers!). Roddy joins us for a second time from Celtic - fans may remember he was Club Doctor during Martin O'Neill's spell at the club, and he obviously replaces Dr Ian McGuinness who departed the other week. Welcome back Roddy, I'm sure you remember your way around!
