Lambert Confirms El Ahmadi Interest

Paul Lambert has confirmed that Villa are in talks with Karim El Ahmadi an Feyenoord.

After the 27 year old Moroccan took to the press earlier to talk about the negotiations between the clubs and what a chance it would be for him to move to Villa, Paul Lambert is also now quoted by Talksport as saying:

'We're in talks at this moment, those talks are ongoing and we hope to reach a positive conclusion with Feyenoord and the player. Karim is a player who I feel could definitely improve our squad. He has experience of big club football and also at international level. He can pass the ball well and he could be an important player for us. Let's see how things progress, we're very hopeful.'

Nice to see the transfer action starting to hot up now!

Must admit I now very little about the player, but he's the right age, and from Lambert's summation of him he's the right type of player and would fill a defensive role that is lacking amongst our current midfielders.

A good player to protect the defence leaving more attack minded midfielders to actually venture up the pitch.

The thought of attacking football....I'm hungry.

I hadn't heard of him before, but saw a video on youtube earlier and he seems to have a bit of pace, not afraid to tackle and likes to close down opponents. Would be nice to have a bit of energy in midfield for a change.

Looks the ideal type of player to line up alongside Makoun/GG. The reported price of 2M looks good too. We're buzzing again!!

Just type in Karim El Ahmadi on youtube and there is a link showing his best bits in a match Vs Ajax. Good tackler, comfortable with the ball, great touch and a neat passer could be a very nice player.

Just watched three YT videos of him. Seems to be a solid ball-winner, happy to have it off the back four, doesn't give the ball away (keeps it simple) and gets involved in attacking play where needed. Seems ideal, especially at the right age and price. I am not going to get over excited about a player I have only seen on YouTube but ticks all the right boxes so far, and if it works out, will be a massive bargain. A great bargain is the next best thing to a home grown player making it, a team of both for next season would be lovely! Oh and Darren Bent obviously!

If he can snap up the Belhanda (another moroccan) we'll have a tidy midfield...

It's a refreshing change to see PL confirming interest etc etc too. This of course is instead of the usual hush hush top secret MI5 stuff we've become accustomed to in the past.

@CDX_EIRE -- This player is Dutch-Moroccan. He plays his international football for Morocco but presumably learned his trade in his country of birth, the Netherlands. Given that the ownership of an Irish dog seemingly qualifies many players for Eire, I would have presumed you knew that at internatioanl football level 'nationality' is a little complicated. (Your username suggests southern Irish background?).

Glad Villa are connected with a player who isn't a British/Irish journeyman 'type'.

Attacking midfielder? Solid ball winner? Comfortable on the ball? Not happy with this, what will be able to moan about?

Well PL has proved himself very un-Mon like by looking at a player plying his trade outside the British isles. This was one of Mon's biggest failings happy days. In Lambo we trust

Nice to see PL and the scouts casting the net wide and far, I've never heard of him but that shows they are checking all options. I hope he can add some much needed steele to the midfield

Brilliant, first problem area addressed in what is a crucial area in todays game and where we were severely lacking last year, especially when we lost Stan. Also I agree how nice it is for the club to keep us updated of talks etc, keeps in with this warm fuzzy feeling we all currently have : - )

He looks a very solid player, If he were English he would cost around the 15m mark I reckon from the glimpses i've seen of him, Hopefully Paul can grab some bargin full backs that have the mentality he is looking for, Hungry for success, a real passion to do well, works hard and helps the team. We have quite a few area's that need to be addressed, it will be very interesting how much he is willing to change the team on his first season, In all honesty we could do with a whole new backline and forget about 3rd chances.

At last an intelegent signing at a reasonable price. If anything has taught us from the past few years and definately the last dreadful 12 months is that we now have a Manager who realises that there is great tallent outside the over priced English leagues.

He's also bald. Fits right in!!! What price for a starting 11 made up entirely of hairless players? Mind you, that would mean Hutton and Collins getting a game...... Hmmmmm

Haha no I didn't advise him for McLeish, all I am saying is I don't see us getting any better than say Wigan , to me Lambert is unproven whereas everyone already seems to think he is a god ,, like I said I hope he proves me wrong so I am not against him for I have lowered all my expectations to just surviving again.

Yes of course I do Mr Fear, I really do, it's just everywhere I read about the villa everyone is raving about Lambert, but I saw Norwich 3time last year and thought how boring, just been honest, but it has to be better than last year because of the feel good factor alone UTV
