Karim El Ahmadi Looking For A Twist Of Lime

Looks like the earlier rumour, see: AVFC Transfer Talk - Dutch Defending Incoming? is right.

skysports.com quote Feyenoord`s Karim El Ahmadi via RTV Rijnmond confirming talks are underway.

He says: 'This is a dream for every player. I hope it will go through. I was on the verge of extending my contract but then this came along. I am 27, that's an age where you can look for a new challenge."

He says the Premiership is the 'best league in the world` and the report says he is already in England and waiting for confirmation of an agreement between the clubs before he talks terms.

A contact on Facebook just sent me a message (thanks Ivan)

"Almadi was last year voted best midfielder in the Dutch comp which dragged Feynoord to 2 place in the table.. yes he did play in Dubai 2 years ago but this year was one of the best midfielders !!! He will be a bargin and a good player for Villa..."

Looks like a pretty hard worker based on a few youtube clips. Just what we need if that's to go on. For 2.8 million it falls into budget. Could be a very good capture this.

IMO a defensive midfield player was our PRIORITY. Right age and decent price. Only time will tell but I am pleased with this signing (presuming iot happens!)..Villa's version of Scott Parker at a younger age and fraction of the price?

Beardofolof - remember the last time that happened? Moustapha Salifou anyone?!?! :) However, we haven't had Adebayor harking on about how this guy's the Togolese (or in this case Moroccan) Zidane, so I'm confident he'll actually be a decent player. Read a few articles on him and his time in Holland; certainly seems highly regarded as a committed battler - just what we need!! Roll on the next one!

Looks pretty impressive to me. If Lambert fancies him, then bring him on! And many more!

My foreign player knowledge is pretty good but can't say I've ever heard of this guy...Kinda gets me a little excited, I'm sure Lambert wouldn't sign him if he wasn't potentially good.

He'll be a good one to get the ball rolling..... no pun intended. Holding midfielder, ball winner.... just what we need.

Must admit I've only seen the Youtube clips...but he looks like he gets stuck in, something a lot of our players seemed to lack last season...could be good.
