No To Kyle Naughton & Bent 'Villa Going Places'

No To Kyle Naughton & Bent 'Villa Going Places'

Really no gossip at all at the moment, but then it is still holiday time for players, agents, officials at clubs etc so maybe it will start next week as we get closer to pre-season training and the Euro`s come to an end!

Only thing we`ve got is Mirror correspondent

James Nursey ?@JamesNursey

Also #AVFC NOT going to sign Kyle Naughton apparently. Lambert lining up a different right-back to replace Hutton but I'm unsure who tbh

Which is a shame as it appears from our thread that he would be good! Thread: Click Here

And talking of right-backs: Alan Hutton Facing Villa Axe

James also tweeted on the 23rd: As for ‪#AVFC‬ transfer goss, reliably told club working on some deals but nothing close or imminent.

Meanwhile Darren Bent has spoken to James at The Mirror. The 28-year-old striker has met Lambert this week and says Villa are going places.

He seems sure that Lambert knows the targets he wants and that he only wants those who will put in 100% for the Villa.

"We also have some good youngsters coming through and this year is their chance to shine. With one or two additions he brings in, it could be a really good year for us."

He also said the sale of Ashley Young and Steward Downing hit them hard last year as they are amongst the best wingers in the country and without them not so much was created. Hmmm. I think it you look at the starts of assists etc, they weren`t quite as glorious as they could have been to be fair but hey, point is right, you can`t sell top players all the time without replacing.

Unless the kids really do shine through now. Must admit, I`d prefer that to journeymen any day of the week!

Can't wait to see who Lambert does go for. Think there is the making of a really good side here if the kids are fully engaged and the likes of Bent fully fit and involved.

Agree with you Fear. in effect we have 2 new signings already: Holman and Makoun back. Lambert knows Naughton well so if he has decided that Naughton is not the right man, rather than the player deciding not to come, there must be a good reason or alternative. I guess we also suffering from 'new manager syndrome' again, the need to assess before buying, but it has been a very quiet close season so far.

Could be exciting, I think what I want now, personally, more than anything, is a team of players who are interested in Villa, who want to put in 100% and appreciate the great club they are at. Any sulkers who any players more interested in what the other one is doing/being paid etc can just stuff or sulk off. A bit of application and commitment and 110% on the pitch, not too much of the fans to ask for imho.

This whole situation reminds me of the start of Brian Little's reign. BFR nearly relegated us for 94/95, surviving on the last day of the season due to results around us if my memory serves me right. Little comes in and makes a few smart signings in Southgate, Draper, Alan Wright and dare I say Savo. We finish 4th for 95/96 season and win the league cup. Little took a few gambles on players from the lower leagues and it worked wonders, I can see Lambert doing something similar.

Oh and I forgot to mention some bloke called Ian Taylor in that list of players. Not that he did much for us...

38% would replace Shay Given! No wonder we are famous for being one of the most fickle sets of fans in the country. Shame on you!

Yes Shay was player of the season to those fans that go to matches and 38% want him out because he messed up a couple of times for the no hope Irish team. fickle indeed

Don't really see the point in going for Naughton or Chris Gunter, we have a young right back in Lichaj, so why not get an experienced player?? Danny Simpson from Newcastle??

So good to see the 'villa fans are fickle' ********* is alive and well and still being spouted at every opportunity by some.
