Holman Raring To Go

Brett Holman has said he can't wait to show the fans what he can do after pulling our new shirt for the first time at the kit launch.

Speaking to the Official Site after the days work had been done, our new Australia utility attacker said he was looking forward to impressing our new boss, and the fans:

'It's a good feeling to put on that Villa shirt for the first time, I'm excited to be here. I am so happy, it's a dream come true to be a Premier League player. To have that opportunity at a club with the history and tradition of Villa is fantstic. I can't wait to get started, there are big names here and I am more than aware of the quality players at Villa. The first time stepping out at Villa Park will be a big moment, I think I can contribute a lot to the team, I want to show what I'm worth.'

It does look like we have quite a tasty player on our hands here, given what we've heard about his performances for Australia, so it's quite ironic that Holman was a McLeish pick, as history may record it as the single best thing he did at the club inspite of everything else that went wrong.

Let's hope he hits the ground running!

Just have a feeling that BRETT HOLMAN may be the ONE thing we come o be grateful about from McLesh's reign at Villa

It's certainly set up that way isn't it.

looking forward to seeing how Holman fits in, he sounds like a great freebie to me!
The Fear
At 28 he has loads of experience too, and we could do with that in a team of young talents. Glad the deal wasn't called off, looking forward to seeing him.
Stephen Jay Hawkings
Yeah fingers crossed can be in effective in the same role Keane played last season, we've known for ages that the sort of player we need permanently at the club! Very excited to see him play, can't wait for the new season to start already!

As an expat living in Australia I have to say he isn't anything special and definitely not in Tim Cahill's class...having said that he would be a good squad player....
Steve64k
I've got a million criticisms about McL's reign, but the transfers weren't that bad really. Yes, Hutton was a complete train wreck and opinions were divided about letting J2M go on loan, but I think most of us would have thought Given and Nzog were good buys.

Arhhhh Steve64k his Australian Player of the Year awards have deceived me then!!! And onlyteaminthemids, Nzog still has a lot to prove he was a good buy, the talent and potential's definitely there though. Hopefully PL can coax it out of him next season!
VillaHippo
have to say the Nzog deal was done before mccleish's arrival so if he comes good he cant really take any credit for that one

Agree with Steve64k, I have seen him play many times. Won't set the world on fire but will give his all and have the right attitude. Good edition to the squad, you need players like this. Even the best teams have workers that don't complain, it balances the big ego's
