Bent Backs Gabby To Get Back To His Best

Darren Bent believes that both he and Gabby Agbonlahor will thrive under Paul Lambert's style of play.

Speaking to the Official Site Bent said he fully believed that both he and Gabby could fire on all cylinders for Villa next season, and get themselves back into the England squad after what was clearly a disappointing season for them both:

'I'd like to think me and Gabby could be picked for the same England squad again. If he can keep himself fit and look after his hamstrings there's every chance and no reason why he can't force himself into the squad, at the start of the season his performances were fantastic and we all know what he's capable of.'

Bent adds that with Gabby's pace there is always unfortunate issues with hamstrings, but he believes Gabby will be back to his best and will get back on the scoresheet regularly next season.

Most seem to agree it's going to be a big season for Gabby now, he needs to get the niggly injuries behind him and he needs to get back to being the player we expect to see on the pitch.

Hopefully a good pre season will get him his form and confidence back, and we can really kick on next term.

Looking forward to seeing Gabby fire again!! He needs to sort his muscle ratio out though, don't need to be the incredible hulk to be a good footballer

I have faith in our Gabby, he can find his feet again just needs a bit of luck with injuries thats all and in the new style of play Lambert will gradually introduce our forwrds will be banging them in!

Gabby was lightning quick without the bulk but his hold up play wasn't good, that now seems to have reversed itself. Bent's lay off with injury will see him come back firing on all cylinders. I think Lambert will change the way Gabby is used and therefore refreshing his appetite. Really looking forward to the start of the season but we do need to sort out our leaky defence still.

Talk on the pitch next season, he was improving season on season but the last two seasons have been a real step backwards, partly due to managers but players also have to take some responsibility. Look forward to seeing what he can do under Lambert.
