If he did his talking on the pitch, I doubt anyone would care about his off field lifestyle (same with Ireland)... While I think Ireland went some way to changing a lot of people's minds last season, it's certain that Collins isn't going to pull his weight. Ship him out.

I find it amazing how Warnock, Dunne and Collins have all changed since MON's time at the club. We had a very good defensive record and since he's left, they have gone downhill and have not stopped. They are all capable of playing together (except Hutton), but they just haven't shown it.

In my opinion I think it shows a complete lack of attendance or football knowledge on the previous polls. we would rather have a half hearted big time charlie at the club in Ireland than a give his all every week and put himself on the line player in Collins. For the last 6-10 matches he carried the back line near enough single handedly and in my honest opinion is one of the main reasons we stayed up!

PUts himself on the line for Villa? Have you watched him the last two seasons? Bloody disgrace half the time along with Dunne, Newcastle away thrashing, Baggies away under GH etc. He improved a bit at the end of the season, he finally woke up, nice of him but on his wages, whether he liked the boss or not, he should have been there all the time. Off pitch more important for some I think. Shame, he was one of my favourite players when he first came. If Lambert decided to keep him and made him grow up, fine, clean slate, but think he'll be out.

They weren't much cop towards the end of Mon's seasons either to be fair. You might want to give him credit for the final few games AVNath, I'd look at the previous 20 where he was key in getting us into the relegation battle.

I'm with you there AVNath. Fear, you say along with Dunne mate. It's along with everyone except the youth and Shay IMHO. No-one gave a toss last year and as Collins has decided to stick up for himself and the rest of the players( although maybe not in the best way((is there a best way??))), he's being singled out!!! Would we rather have him coming out in the press saying that everyone is behind Eck and we're doing really well like a lot of players did last year??? It was basically lies and we all knew it. I'd rather they called it how it is or not say anything. Randy and Co. were trying to opress us into thinking everyone was happy?!?!?!?!

Stick up for themselves my arse. They let us down on the pitch massively, especially in GH reign because they didn't like the boss. Well boo bloody hoo, in that case, feck orf. Were you not at the Baggies away? They were clearly not up to the game. The Newcastle away? Hmmm, I wonder why? 27 (or 28?) year old being thrown out of a nightclub last season. Grow the feck up. They are paid to do a job, that includes keeping fit. Did Dunne look fit at any stage to you? Even last game v Spuds when he lumbered in like a whale giving away a pen. I don't think so.

players h ave got away scott free not giving a toss and sulking around or not being professional for too long. Fans had the focus on managers and it seems the players were allowed to do what they wanted. Utter turgrid crap some of them, and to think of the wages they are on and the absolute privilege to play in that shirt, in front of mighty fine fans. Sorry, not having it. It is an insult to every single one of us who pay our money and make the effort.

All I know is where I sit and most Villa fans I know who actually go to games home AND away would say Collins was one of the reasons we are still a premier league team. Say what you want, but he has carried a poor defence in terms of Hutton and Baker etc. No coincidence once him and Dunne were restored together for the final few games we didn't concede as many.

People like Albrighton and Bannan get away scot free because they are 'young', the fact that they are inept as well never seems to cross peoples minds.

Funny as well FEAR the games you bring up there - Collins didn't play against Newcastle in the 6-0, Clark got out fought by Carroll. Funnily enough Dunne didn't play against Albion that year either. Anyone else here noticing a pattern. GET A GRIP!!

I think the best way to sum up Collins and Dunne is that they are great for 88 mins of a match hence why some want to defend them! However the 2 minutes or the 2 / 3 clangers they make in every game always leads to a clear chance on goal as its always such a big mistake and not expected. I actually thought Baker looked a real talent and was left exposed by the more senior players

Collins and Dunne are both extremely hot and cold. Both capable of brilliance yet both capable of clangers. Its as simple as that. Fans want consistency, do they both bring consistency, well that's debatable. I'm on the fence think one or the other has to go. Which one though, i'm not fussed

Albie and Bannan have time to learn not to be inept, how many more seasons would you give Collins and Dunne to fail spectacularly given they've let 3 manager down regularly?

calavfc - I agree completely that Shay was our player of the season and we were a better team for the games that keane played. The two goals against Wolves were vital, I don't disagree with that.

I think Mark Schwarzer is the only reason we are in the Premiership, had he have held Gardners shot like he should have we would have most likely gone! We stayed up cos others were too poor rather than anything about us being too good! We were shocking, I would only want Bent, Given and a few of the kids to stay, anyone else I wouldnt be worried if we lost them

Collins can't even pass the ball, you do no he was dropped from the Wales squad under Gary Speed because he wanted to play good football but Collins kept smashing it up the field at every opportunity...The man is a championship defender so don't talk about 'lack of football knowledge'.

I appreciate whet he has done at Villa and all that, but he is poor championship level at best, so for that i would be willing to drive him to West Spam and buy him a meal and coffee on a service station stop...........

Lets get one thing straight about the defence under MON ...... we had Young and Milner back then and they covered the full back positions amazingly and the whole of the team defended as a unit ...... when under pressure. As out and out defenders Dunne, Warnock and Collins are poor and not in Melberg, Laursen and Bouma's league.

Bad eggs need throwing away before they ruin the recipe, so off you go Collins, Big Sam will know what to do with you. Dunne again proved last night why we should get rid of him too. Don't get me started on Hutton; I'm sure there was some hidden agenda between him and 'Eck, and Villa was not in the best interest of either. As for Warnock, just keep counting your money as you coast out the door. Rejects, wasters and slow-arses, all of them. Here's a great example of how to get rich quick with average talent, folks.

AVNath - can I have some of whatever you're smoking, please? Collins looks like a player who gives his all, but only because he has to make up for his own positional mistakes. So many times he gets caught out of position, turned far too easily, he's immobile and strangely nowhere near the level he was in his first season with us. I think that's what gripes a lot of people, certainly me; he's not an awful player now, but nowhere near what he has to wonder why

Baker looked quality at times. The young lad if given time and surrounding by some quality players to learn from will be a damn good defender for us.

Chelt Villan I agree, both Collins and Dunne can't play a a whole game consistently well. The only reason they have to make so many diving block challenges is because their lacy of concentration for moments within a match they lose the player they're meant to mark! Its a lot easier to concede a goal than score, so we've got to sort the defence out. The past two seasons have been woeful. If Lambert can sort them out then they've showed that they can be a strong backline. But that's clutching at straws and praying for the past which is never a good sign anyway. I'd ship them out for their lack of dedication to the badge that he's been guilty of as Fear rightly pointed out. You play for the team and the club, not just the manager.

"You play for the team and the club, not just the manager. " So players just do what they want on the pitch do they?? Regardless of what the manager has told them to???? You can only do what the manager allows you to do FFS.
