Confirmation That's Sid's Staying

Paul Lambert has spoken about club legend Gordon Cowans, and whilst his exact position remains unclear, he is staying at the club.

Speaking to the Birmingham Post Lambert talked about keeping Sid on the staff because of his knowledge, talent and the fact he is a club legend.

'Gordon, as everyone knows, is a legend here. Someone like Gordon Cowans deserves instant respect for what he has done, I have spoken to him only briefly and will have another chat with him later on, he's a really nice guy.'

It's unknown if Sid will continue with the first team coaching role he has, or whether he'll go back to play a fullsome part with our reserves and Academy now that Kevin MacDonald has moved on.

Great news... anyone remember the old fanzine Missing Sid? Great stuff... I let down someone the other day, they sent me a text asking why is he called Sid expecting some great story. It was a let down to him when I explain it is his middle name! lol

The only bit I'm unsure on is whether it's Sid or Syd. I'll keep using both alternatively lol

As an 'old timer' and well remeber his playing days under Ron Saunders along with many other notables such as Andy Gray, Peter Withe, Bruce Rioch and a Defence that was rock solid, I just wonder if we have a Manager in the making who having learned his trade from Ron Saunders and others would one day step into the Managers shoes some time in the future. Gordon was a delight to watch and had he played for a London Club would have been a permanent fixture in the then England team. Well done for keeping him at the Club, and thankyou Gordon for being the Player you were and the Man you are.
