James Collins Exit (?) Not Exactly A Hammer Blow!

The Daily Star say that West Ham are preparing to make a bid of around 3million for James Collins.

Superb, deal, sell.

Next!

Some will say that is harsh but the defense have let us down badly the last two seasons and after a solid start for Villa, Collins seemed to enjoy the off pitch part of life more than the on pitch stuff. He did re-gain some form towards the end of last season but that isn`t enough as far as I`m concerned, we need a new defense and a fresh start.

Oh, The Birmingham Mail have just popped up with a Mat Kendrick penned report on this as well. As the report says Collins has just 12 months left of his current deal.

Surely to sell him back for 3million to the Hammers (we paid in the region of 5m) wouldn`t be bad business, get him off our books and bring someone who is young and hungry and.... no, I`ll leave it there. Suffice to say the Club fines show the sort of character he is.

Good. But try to get 4.5M.
Thomas Holte
I'd just get him off our books to be honest
The Fear
He'd be perfect for West Ham and Big Sam.... Thump it up field! See you later Collins

I could be tempted into getting a prayer mat and praying to Allah....Lol

Just let him go, Cant West Ham take Hutton and Warnock too??
P.Avfc
I think it's time to get rid, he makes too many errors for an experienced centre back. Let's hope that Dunne, Hutton, and Warnock follow him out of the door. Can we get a couple of Scandinavians in defence please Mr Lambert? It's wishful thinking, but a player in the mould of Simon Kjear would be ideal.

I'd keep him. Good player on his day and amazing in the air. Agreed that he hasn't had "his day" for too long but Lambert won't put up with any monkey business and some players need that discipline. I know people will say that you should play hard regardless etc. blah blah. But for those that have played the game, it's difficult to self motivate when the manager is so negative and you're left out of the loop which think everyone was with GH. MON had everyone believing that they're in it together and all for one and one for all etc. We can't express enough how much a good manager difference will make.

I actually rate him and would like him to stay but if it helps the wage bill then it seems like a good deal

50p and a smile would do me. Bye, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I don't think he's got the defense intelligence required to be a great centre back. I'm sure Lambert will get an extra 50%-100% out of some of our players, but when it comes to centre backs, my opinion is you've either got it or you haven't. Don't get me wrong, physically he is a great centre back, it's just his noggin' I'm worried about.

Zipady do dah zipardy ay my oh my what a wonderful day! Sell the trouble causing p***k can't stand the bloke, he cost us Man Utd's equaliser in the League cup final when he slipeed and Berbatov ran on and set up there equaliser for them plus the clumsey baffon is useless and i don't like him, nuff said sell sell sell! UTV!

Always thought the opposition tended to close down everywhere else and get us to give the ball to Collins as they knew he'd hoof it straight back to them. OK defender, terrible passer, 28 yo, last year of contract. Maybe us giving them 3m to take him off our hands is a bit too much, I think we should only offer them 2m......hang on a minute!!!!???? They want to pay us???!!!!!!

In all seriousness I really think the time is right for Cieran Clark to be given a the role at the centre of defence. Good defender and someone who can play a bit of football. I think it would mark a real step up in the way we want to play. Possibly even Team Captain. Young player, bright new start for the club.

Bye! And take Dunne, Hutton & Warnock with you!
Windy Villain
Hurrah!!! We must be as hopeful of this going through as Spurs fans were the few days before Hutton joined us!!
