'I was thinking about Brett recently when Alex McLeish was sacked and I hoped that he wouldn`t be affected. I hope he is going to be okay now with the new manager coming in because he`s a really talented player.' I think thats BBQ....barbie??? isn't she Ken's doll?

I'm looking forward to Holman coming, hopefully he'll play the same role as Robbie Keane did, and if he can do as well as Keane did he'll be a top signing on a free. Best of luck to him! And yeah I do hope the article writer meant barbeque and not that he's an avid fan of the barbie doll collection haha!

holman is more exciting to me than another linked signing.. best thing is he is free!! - this is how we get a great sqd on the cheap tbh... spending 8mil on rhodes or whatever.. can't fcking stand english players and their values - so overrated its untrue. if its true (as I've heard and been told) dortmund won the league on a 40k wage limit then we can easily fight for 5th with the right buys.. have you seen dortmund play?? they are amazing.. they slaughtered bayern all last season and have beaten them like 6 times in a row! this is an opportunity to get decent players on a tightish budget i think. its possible

Yeah a LOT depends on a club's scouting network (and Academy), being able to get spot young players who fit the mould of the club, and will be the top players of the future. That's how Dortmund got to where they are (Gotze, Lewandowski, Kagawa, Hummels). Tbh, I haven't had much faith in Villa's scouting network in the past. I mean, Salifou, Agathe?
VillaHippo
Agathe, Sutton were simply stop gaps for O'Neill, he also saw Salifou whilst on media work so can't blame our scouts for that lol But a lot of work went into our scouting set up under Houllier, so it should be far better placed now than it has been in previous years mate in terms of software and the database they wanted, even though we are to add a new head scout and staff again I believe.

I see, it's always hard to judge the 'behind-the-scenes' work. Hopefully we'll see some results in the future!

V4L87: Do you have to swear in every recent comment? Overhyped and over priced English players are over here to stay, so, in essence your vitreol would be better directed towards our scouting system who are light years behind Spurs rahter than the players themselves - it's not their fault they're overpriced. Anyhow, not a dig just an observation, your opinion is valued and wanted - minus the potty mouth would be great tho or you lose credibility. :-)
