Who Should Be Our New Team Captain?

Who Should Be Our New Team Captain?

Following Petrov Club Captain - Who'd You Make Team Captain?

Vital Villa asked:

Who should be the new team captain?

Poll Date: 10 Jun 2012
Suggested By: JP Fear

None, buy a new player worthy of being captain 57%

The largest vote for a current player was Shay Given (linked to a move to QPR today: AVFC Transfer Talk - Two Linked Outwards ) with 25%

The only other one that rated was one I`d have out on his ear, Richard Dunne who got 8%.

The rest:

I've really no idea 3%
Ireland 2%
Agonlahor 2%
Other 2%
Bent 1%
Collins 0%

Bit of a damning judgement of our current squad really isn`t it?! No real leaders, Lambert needs to buy one.

Ciaran Clarke- The lad has the potentail to be a legend. Give it him now and show the world we trust in our youth.

That is a great shout Mr. Holte. I was think of Barry Bannan but i thought things might get lost in translation with his accent or maybe even Chris Herd.

Clark is the standout, Capitan all all other levels so knows the job and with the reserves knows how to captain a winning team! Outside of that, Herd or Lichaj as leaders by example for me. I'd say no to Bannan, we want him to focus on reading our strikers movement better (and dare I say our strikers actually moving) with some of the ball he can play.

I thought you said Bannan needs to focus on his reading.

You can't make a player captain if they have not proved themselves. I don't think Clark or bannan have established themselves enough to be considered yet.

Difficult question seeing as I'd ship out about 75% of the squad and the rest are largely unproven.

Disagree on that one kentv. Some players are born to lead. Identifying this and giving them the opportunity is the skill. I may be wrong on Clarke, who knows, but I believe you put him as a leader now and watch him grow to be a focal point of the club. The guy is class. Give him the capataincy, a long contract and tell him to become a legend.
