Unoial Villa News...

Right, lets get stuck in to the press talk today from the interviews with Villa`s new boss Paul Lambert yesterday. All makes for nice reading! Lambert said: 'It's an incredible opportunity. You look at the history. The size of the football club is vast. It's something I'm not going to shy away from. It's the first time I've got money. But whether you're making little money or lots of money, I still expect the desire to win games. That should never deflect from winning games. The principles are still of the same regardless of what they earn.' Full article: Lambert Looking For 5 Players With £20m Funds?

So, along with the talk of arrivals, it looks (obviously) like Villa will shake things up a little bit and get rid of some players. The good thing about this managerial appointment is he has a full summer to assess and look at what he wants to do. Should help end the tailspin we were put in to following the rush departure of MON. We`ve been discussing who you`d let go for a while in the forum along with a forum poll (feel free to vote !) Full article: Villa Squad To Be Shaken Up - Players To Leave

Little transfer snippet: Norwich Want To Keep Holt. Villa Don't Care?

Paul Lambert has told that he is wanting to change with tradition and swap the dugouts that the Villa staff and players sit in. {sarcasm mode on} Now, he`ll have you believe this is because he wants to harness the power of the Holte End and all that, but we all know he is has been tipped off and is anti Fear! As some will know, I sit right by the dugout and bang the boarding's and give the managers invaluable, ahem, advice... So how does he thank me for this service? He distances himself!!!! {sarcasm mode off} Gutted!!!!!!!!!!!! The new Villa boss, explains:
Lambert To Move As Far Away From Fear As Possible!

Could well be the last Lambert news of the night, who knows!? An exclusive AVTV interview(subscription), a free AVTV video from his arrival at the ground and Lambert Lions T-Shirts. Speaking to AVTV exclusively following the press conference our new manager promised he would 'hit the ground running' and 'go for it right from the off' when pre season and our new season begins, and frankly for this little ol fan that's music to my overgrown ears! According to a John Wragg report in The Express, exiled (well, he was loaned anyway) Jean Makoun II could well be given a second chance. He has returned from his loan at Olympiakos where he apparently did well. Article: Fresh Start For Jean Makoun II

Looks like season ticket sales are up already with the arrival of Paul Lambert. The new Villa boss was surprised and humbled that 200 odd fans turned up to Villa Park yesterday to welcome him (nice tip off from Vital for the timing of that!) Article: Big Rise In Season Ticket Sales For Lambert

Wadey: Satisfaction guaranteed. So a hearty welcome to new Villa manager Paul Lambert, after we finally got to see him face the cameras this week when he proved inscrutable enough not to make too many promises, he is likely to be reminded of later. He is definitely the safe choice and his appointment is indicative that Villa are sticking with their rather modest plans for the next few years. Full article: Something For The Weekend (386)
