I think that Paul Lambert has already hinted that he isn`t going to go back to his former club for striker Grant Holt when he said, 'Grant Holt was absolutely brilliant for me. In the three years I was there he was a huge part of what happened. But things move on. I need to know what`s happening at Aston Villa before I do anything. The chairman and Paul Faulkner know that and then we`ll try to bring players in."
At 31 and with Norwich wanting over £4million I`d doubt it would be the sort of signing the board / manager would want as it wouldn`t really build for the future would it?
Anyway, only bit of transfer talk today so far is the new Norwich manager Chris Hughton saying he`ll fight to keep Holt.
He told The Sun
"I can fully understand all the speculation about Grant Holt`s future. He is a top quality player. The number of goals he has scored for Norwich over the last three seasons — especially last season in the Premier League — says it all and I don`t think any manager would not want to keep a player like that. I`ve only just come in through the door so I haven`t had a chance to speak to him. But obviously my main priority will be to keep him here."
Adding that Holt has a contract at Norwich (with two years still to run) and as a fans favourite and the club`s Player of the Season award winner for three seasons in a row, "he is definitely someone I want to keep at Carrow Road."
Congrats to Hughton by the way, seems a good decent bloke, football person and manager.
