'If It's Football, It's Vital'

AVFC Transfer Talk. Russian Striker Linked

Just a little transfer snippet I saw on fourfourtwo.com.

28-year-old Pavel Pogrebnyak is apparently keen to stay in England and is now a free agent having left VfB Stuttgart.

He was on-loan at Fulham for part of last season and scored 6 goals in 12 games.

Villa and Reading are said to be vying for his signature along with Fulham.

Pogrebnyak told Sport-Express: 'After three or four months, I feel that I have found my place in England and I want to play in this league. I feel great desire and strength inside me and my age will not work against me. We couldn't agree anything with Fulham so far, but I hope everything will be alright. If I don't play for Fulham, I hope to find another team."

His strike rate for VfB Stuttgart looks a bit average? Just over 1 in 4 ... 68 games, 15 goals.

He has 8 goals in 32 games for Russia.

He knows where the net is and can strike a ball! Go to 60 seconds:

Not sure about this guy. Ok he's on a free, but I'd prefer Holt for 4m. At least he's done it through a full season.
Pride of Lions
I'd take him on a free, would be a better option than the Fonz and definitely can't be worse than Heskey.
VillaHippo
I've heard that the Russkie is inconsistent, a bit like John Carew if you will so no I'd pass on this one.
Green Villan
I'm surprised Rodallega's name hasn't been thrown round in the media, he'd be a great free buy.
VillaHippo
Rodallega's a free agent now isn't he? With Green on Pavel though, seemed to have a purple patch and then disappeared. Daft as it sounds, I'd rather us move for somebody like Dempsey if we are going for somebody of that age...gives more options.
mike_field
good shout Hippo.
The Fear
Just another person for the wage bill, no. I think young talents such as Adam Hlousek or Franck Tabanou would be ideal.
Avfc94 we do
Interesting 'frees' about...It would depend very much on wages..which rules out the likes of Boswinga and Kalou I reckon..Rodallega, Pavel, Guthrie, Murphy would be worth having a look at...Need a 2nd keeper..Green, Gordon, Kusack (imagine they would all want to be number one though)..Point is there does seem to be a LOT of very useful possible acquisitions on Bosmans this Summer (Heskey? lol)
krfeskivilla
Just read the premier league managers voted Pa***** Cisse the best value deal of the year. Credit to the scout - Id never heard of him. I would like the next Pa***** Cisse to join Villa please. I expect Lambert to arrange this. That is all. :p
revolutionatlast
rodallega, diame, scharner, saha, nelsen, Guthrie, owen, hargreaves, murphy klasnic there just some of the bosmans available released by prem clubs and if on reasonable wages would help fill out our squad.
Bobs Villa
Rodellega or Progbenyak i would be happy to take, Saha would be good any one of these three on a free is a bargain
ClivetheVillan
Daft to look at Dempsey? you must be crazy id sign him in a heartbeat...
CDX_EIRE
I have found a kindred spirit CDX lol

Dempsey is a shoe-in at Arse pals or Spuds. Sorry. Keane and Holt would be ideal for the rebuilding - Victor Moses is like Gabby but with skill - I'd have him in an instant!!!! Midfield needs sorting and I think it'll take more than the mini marvel Makoun.
koolbill
I'd love Dempsey and have been wishing for us to sign him for years, but he has his sights set on joining a Champions League club this summer. If nobody comes in for him by the end of August, I can see PL sneaking in a bid for him on deadline day. He would be a fantastic signing and would no doubt become a legend for us.
kmitch
Moses, Sturridge, Rodellega, Javis there's some good players about that we could move for, I wonder who's on PL's list!! Besides Messi that is :)
AdzVilla11
Adz: Moses, yes. Sturridge strikes me as unreachable while we rebuild as does Dempsey. Not sure I want Rodallega. Jarvis, yes...but only as a replacement if Nzo goes somewhere. Anyone for OHara? Me likey, not like that though.
koolbill
Dempsey, Joe Cole and no doubt a couple of canaries to be poached? A N other for keeper back up until Seigriest steps up in another years time by then Given may be too injury prone.
holte ender 1969
koolbill I have been saying O'Hara also I think he'd be great for us and a very viable option too. On Sturridge I know you are right but I really want him ha. Javis would be good to rotate (something Lambert does) with NZgobia
AdzVilla11
I see that guy Tchoi if I have spelt it right was released by the baggies if ever a guy needed turning into a defensive midfielder its him lol
Merlin128777
Dempseys is an "Iwish" Feel he has been underated for years and is only now getting the notice he deserves.
