Big Rise In Season Ticket Sales For Lambert

Looks like season ticket sales are up already with the arrival of Paul Lambert.

The new Villa boss was surprised and humbled that 200 odd fans turned up to Villa Park yesterday to welcome him (nice tip off from Vital for the timing of that!)

'The fans outside were really nice, which was humbling,' he said. 'I will do everything I can to make this club successful. The size of the club indicates you have to get the fans going and that's what I will try to do. The team and myself will certainly need them. You need the fans right behind you, and we have to give them something as well. At the moment there seems to be a really good feeling around the club and I'll do everything I can to get the crowd going."

Adding, 'The Holte End will be vital to us. That's the traditional end where you get the place rocking - and the rest of the stadium will bounce off that. If that happens and we get the team performing then hopefully we will be fine.'

He was at pains yesterday throughout his press talk to say how important the fans are to the Villa and to hopefully a new happier chapter.

CEO Paul Faulkner said that 2000 season tickets were sold within 24 hours of the announcement of Lambert, putting the sales to around 21,000 sold already.

Lambert wants to give the fans a winning team, 'If you can do it with style then great, but if you can`t and you win, I`m pretty sure people will still be happy.`

Our new boss obviously needs to realise The North Stand Lower is the stand at VP that is always rocking. The Holte End and noise, don't make me laugh. North Standers on the Ground.

I suppose it made an impression with Villa fans singing his name at Norwich on the last day of last season.

I thought if I referred to the North Stand as the Witton End, many of the younger members of the site would think I meant the Witton Lane. Although, I'm 31 and only ever remember it as the North Stand, have read plenty of books explaining previous name as the Witton End.

He wants the place rocking. Now thats a challenge. The Holte have become lethargic. The North Stand occasionally help, but we can't hear you in the top of the Holte. The Witton Lane Stand and the Trinity Road may as well be renamed the 'Library' Stands. We go through this shenanigans every year and it has gradually got worse. Lets not have excuses about seating and the players have to do their bit first. No they don't!!!! Paul Lambert understands the psyhology of the game and the triggers that help build footballs most important ingredient - CONFIDENCE. This grows due to several factors, but the factor down to US, the one we can influence is noise, volume, intimidation of opposition etc. Not just the Holte or Lower North Stand, but every side of the ground. When it does happen then Villa Park is one of the best grounds in the world. I think of the games when it did happen and how the players responded to the whole ground creating a wall of noise. The place is electrifying and we get better performances. Small Heath 5 - 1. Blackburn 6 - 4. Tranmere 3 - 1. Both victories over Inter Milan. Listen to Stan Collymore talk about the game against Atletico Madrid. Villa Park and the supporters within can make the difference of several points a season, maybe the difference between success and failure. I am sure we will have more of this over the coming weeks, months, years, but we can make a difference. The venom used to remove the previous manager must now be channelled in a positive way. We know we can force someone out. Lets show we can force someone to stay and do the job he has come to do. Wherever you are in the ground, sing. And if the person next to you doesn't, then sod em. I go to the game to enjoy myself. I enjoyed the challenge of being one of the majority helping to remove the previous manager. I am really excited about being one of the many that uphold our end of the bargain to GIVE SUPPORT and not just sit there like some dumb ass who turns up, watches, says bugger all and then pi$$es off home. Get behind the lads in evcery part of the ground. You never know, you might even enjoy it??? UTV. Prepared. The 19th Minute.

Well put VOTH, it is now over to us to do our part. We have a new manager who we can all support and support we must. It is important we support the players from the opening whistle of the first game at VP until the final whistle of the season. I'm not a religious guy but I feel this could be the rebirth of the club. Lerner and Faulkner have appointed a manager most of us wanted or would have been happy with. The board have attempted to rectify their mistake from last season and deserve credit for that. So now lets all get behind the team, sing loud and proud and show Lambert how good we are when we support OUR team.

Give em something to sing about and they will sing, although the songs lack imagtion and as wicked messenger said in the forum, 'wit' these days. Hopefully someone will spark something without being moaned at! LOL

Fear - that is a comment of that goes against the grain. "Give em something to sing about and they will sing"?? No no no. We are Aston Villa. We are one of the most succesful clubs in English Football. We are one of the most succesful clubs in the Premier Leagu era. We are the biggest club around for 80 miles in any direction. We have a wonderful Chairman, a truly iconic ground and the manager nearly everybody wanted. Everything is in place for the supporters to now do their bit to help. To fill the ground and create a wall of noise from all sides of the ground. We have everything to sing about. And if we do our bit it should help the players on the pitch to get an extra 10% of sweat and pride out of them. Too many Villa supporters wait for something exciting to happen on the pitch before daring to pump up the volume. The idea is to pump up the volume first and help something exciting happen. Villa is the fans, not the players. The time to create the most noise is when they are struggling, when their backs are against the wall, when they need to know we are with them. Any old muppet can sing when we are winning. I know you do your bit in the Trinity Library, but you and all around you need to do more. If fans in the Trinity or Witton Lane feel a little embarrassed to get into full voice in support of the club, then think how embarrasing it is for us to watch you all sat with your heads up your arses, sitting on your hands instead of getting behind the team. Paul Lambert has identified that we all have to be in this together. And he is so right. Be loud. Be proud. In every part of the ground. The Lion could be about to roar again and we all need to play our part in making sure that Villa Park once again becomes Lion Country and that visitors are not welcome. Maybe we should just imagine that all visitors are wearing ginger wigs and speaking in a Scottish accent??

I was on the Brigada's pro boards yesterday and a member on there said they have got 'almost double' in L8 what they had last season in L1. I really believe these lads can improve the atmosphere at the Villa ten fold. Especially now they're in a much more visible part of the ground and who know's, maybe even the away fans might actually hear the Holte this season ;-)

Apparently L8 is now fully sold out and no more seats are available until relocation day at the start of July. Brigada are the breath of fresh air that Villa Park needed. Unlike the old farts like me that wanted to force the previous manager out of our club, they have a brilliant ethos of simply wanting to support the club no matter what. So very simply, if you want to spend all game singing and creating the atmosphere that Villa park deserves get over to L8/7/6. Be great to have the Lower Holte full of Brigada in the coming years.
