Faulkner On Lambert Appointment

Faulkner On Lambert Appointment

Paul Faulkner is as delighted as Randy Lerner when it comes to the appointment of Paul Lambert at the club.

Speaking to the Official Site Paul clearly believes the stated aims of finding a manager who could reinvigorate the club have been met, and he thinks everybody should be excited about the coming season:

'We're delighted to welcome Paul here as manager of Villa. Paul is a dynamic, young manager who has already achieved success and we're tremendously excited as a club to have him here.

'Paul recognises the potential within the club, everything we have here is geared up towards success and achievement and we believe he is the right man to help us build on these foundations.

'Along with the chairman and the board, we will work closely together and, with the fans and the whole club behind us, we can look forward to some exciting times.

'The club has been through a challenging past couple of seasons but we are looking now to push on into a brand new season in which vibrancy and positive emotion is restored to Villa Park.'

The overriding issue for many fans is how and to what extent will Lambert be backed in the market, on this subject Faulkner said:

'We know we have to work with Paul to freshen the squad after a poor, disappointing season last year. It's about trying to get the squad ready to go so we can challenge in the top half of the table. We need to make sure Paul has the tools needed for a successful season.'

Yup, you've guessed it - a link to the every growing Paul Lambert Forum Thread.

absolutely delighted with Lambert, but he comes across well in press conferences too...by the way, satisfaction doubled that we may have indirectly cost Blues Chris Hughton - oh yes, God is claret and blue

It's nice to see Faulkner has engaged brain before opening mouth this time around. As this time he's being a little more realistic by saying "challenge in the top half" .....
