Randy Welcomes Lambert To Villa

Randy Welcomes Lambert To Villa

Randy Lerner has spoken of his delight at Paul Lambert joining the club and said he was impressed with his enthusiasm for the task ahead.

Speaking to the Official Site just ahead of the press conference, our owner said of the new manager:

'To what extent that the interview process is a peek into what a working relationship would be like, we were able to see that Paul would be a good fit. He understands the club's history and its current potential and has been openly supportive of the board's approach.

'We feel that Paul has the energy and the leadership pedigree to energize the Villa squad and Bodymoor Heath more generally. Paul has done his research, he knows our ground and most importantly our base of support. It has been a very real breath of fresh air hearing him plan for the summer and certainly the upcoming season.'

Be interesting to see what those plans are as the next few weeks progress.

Hopefully he's done enough homework to know the players who's number Houllier had, and then he can reinvigorate our younger players to reach their potential whilst also strengthening where we clearly need it.

Most interested to see his attitude in the market, is he going to go the way of a marquee signing to excite or are we going to be looking at young and hungry players who want to make themselves a top flight career?

Certainly the days of journeymen should be long over though!

All inclusive Paul Lambert Thread.

Sorry for being negative BUT: Randy was fooled last year by Eck and his "yes man " stance. NOT that I think Lambert isn't the right man atall. It's just that Randy has gone on about a working relationship with him. Personally I don't give a toss how they get on and with Faulkner ( who also looked shocked and like he'd pulled a Doris well out of his league in the conference.) if the man does the job on the training ground, the players are happy and confident and they are allowed to attack and they play well etc. then who cares about this. Lambert is definitely the right man. Randy and Faulkner are most probably not. Hopefully they give him full reign and don't interfere other than putting a limit on expenditure on wages etc. Again, chuffed with Lambert and he'll work wonders but I'm still dubious over our owner, in the same way that randy got all excited when Bent turned up and went to a couple of training sessions and the encounter was all over SSN. Small time mentality and a severe lack of knowledge just seems evident?!?!?!?!

Well Villan444...what was Lerner going to say when he appointed Eck? That he didn't like him and that he couldn't possibly work with him??? get real. You appoint a manager to manage the football side and leave the finance to the businessmen....Everyone makes mistakes. Time to move on and give the club time to get things sorted.

A little harsh 444. Randolph has invested more money and strategy into Villa than any other individual in our history. He did what we all wanted and gave M'ON every chance to succeed. M'ON didn't succeed in relation to the freedom and money he was allowed. Records now show on his final season our wages were more than turnover!!!! We know that the appointment of the last manager was a mistake and the way that the health issues of Houllier were handled was not ideal. However the club is in debt to the tune of £130m to Randolph. He has been magnificent for our club and committed himelf fully to the cause despite the family problems he has gone through in recent months. I find it quite sad that on a great news day for our club you still want to share your negativity with everyone. Why would any Villa fan choose today to spout negativity? We have secured one of the games most sought after young managers, in years we may look back on today as the start of a great era (we may not as there are no guarantees in life) and you want to moan?? Why???

Randy meets all the players chap, SSN were there because of the fee. Just cause they don't screen it don't mean it don't happen. Even since he's been spending the weekends in the States because of family, he's still been over for training sessions during the week as well, it's just not widely publicised mate. So it's evident of nothing, even though with the Eck factor I get why you are dubious.

But by the same token fans moan he never says anything, and then when he does it's a licence to have another go? lol You also seem to be the only one not pleased with Faulkner's behaviour at the PC.

Ok, maybe I'm being silly but Faulkner never said that Lambert was always the first choice or anything. He just said that "as soon as they interviewed him". They seem to employ who they get on with best at interviews which although is good, isn't the be all, as in Ecks case. They got it right this time and maybe more luck than judgement but regardless they got it right. Hopefully Lambert can teach Faulkner more about the game from a different angle and their relationship will blossom. Hopefully they got someone this time that they will get on with, sing from the same hymn sheet and he can manage aswell.
