Randy Lerner has spoken of his delight at Paul Lambert joining the club and said he was impressed with his enthusiasm for the task ahead.
Speaking to the Official Site just ahead of the press conference, our owner said of the new manager:
'To what extent that the interview process is a peek into what a working relationship would be like, we were able to see that Paul would be a good fit. He understands the club's history and its current potential and has been openly supportive of the board's approach.
'We feel that Paul has the energy and the leadership pedigree to energize the Villa squad and Bodymoor Heath more generally. Paul has done his research, he knows our ground and most importantly our base of support. It has been a very real breath of fresh air hearing him plan for the summer and certainly the upcoming season.'
Be interesting to see what those plans are as the next few weeks progress.
Hopefully he's done enough homework to know the players who's number Houllier had, and then he can reinvigorate our younger players to reach their potential whilst also strengthening where we clearly need it.
Most interested to see his attitude in the market, is he going to go the way of a marquee signing to excite or are we going to be looking at young and hungry players who want to make themselves a top flight career?
Certainly the days of journeymen should be long over though!

Great news Blitz, take some photos in the season and do a mini interview with your lad and I'll happily publish, be nice.
But by the same token fans moan he never says anything, and then when he does it's a licence to have another go? lol You also seem to be the only one not pleased with Faulkner's behaviour at the PC.
Remember, we interviewed Lambert after everbody else so it's likely we were waiting for him - because Norwich declined permission.
No need when it comes to Faulkner, Faulkner takes care of the financials and growing revenue, Lambert handles the football. It's how it should be, and it's how all CEO's work as opposed to those like Levy who fancy themselves as a DoF and just employ a manager to coach like Harry, and not have the final say so on transfers. But for Lambert, it appears Karsa fulfils that role.
I disagree on luck more than design, but completely agree we all hope this works out as well as we want it to!
