Bosnich In Praise Of Villa's Incoming Socceroo!

Former Villa keeper Mark Bosnich has been talking to the Birmingham Post about our new signing Brett Holman.

Bossie wants 28-year-old Holman to slot in and be the missing link for our midfield.

"I was thinking about Brett recently when Alex McLeish was sacked and I hoped that he wouldn`t be affected. I hope he is going to be okay now with the new manager coming in because he`s a really talented player."

The player has played as an out and out striker and also as a midfielder behind two strikers and has 53 caps for the Socceroos.

And to answer the questions, yes he has signed for us, yes the signing is still valid now we have a new manager and he`ll be able to join Villa officially when his AZ Alkmaar deal officially finishes July 1st!

Bossie carried on: "When you think of Gabby Agbonlahor and Darren Bent up front, he could provide a very good supply to them. If Villa can work out a way to get him on the ball in good areas then he is one that can really set up the strikers. He`s the unselfish type and he will chip in with his fair share of goals too."

Apparently Australian coach Holger Osieck sees him as their best player.

"He plays a 4-4-2 system but with one of those players or wingers just behind the striker. Holman has made that position his own. He can also play wide on the right or left, he`s very skilful."

Never thought I'd say it but, thanks McLeish ...for a free signing this could work out really well for us

It all sounds like he could be a good addition to be honest.

Like the sound of him, usually good hard working players as well!
The fear
I though he'd be a decent signing TBH and with Bossie waxing lyrical, it seems to confirm my suspicions. Hope he's right, it's sounding good.
Pride of Lions
The lad plays with a lot of passion. Expect to be jumping out of your seat alot peoples!

Good-o! Though I thought he was going to be our new winger - this makes it sound like he's far better employed as an alternative to Ireland behind the strikers. Ahh imagine if Ireland continues to play properly and N'Zogbia starts playing like he can - we'll be back to being a force! :)
