Two Strikers Linked To AVFC - Transfer Talk

Two Strikers Linked To AVFC - Transfer Talk

Great, now we can really get down to transfer gossip!

www.dailymail.co.uk say that Villa and Sunderland are interested in Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez.

He is currently looking at a £7million move to Southampton but Villa and Sunderland might push in to grab the youngster.

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Rodriguez

Interesting one, anyone know anything about him? A lot of money (as is always the way for British 'youth` I guess)

And The Mirror say that Norwich City want £6million for striker Grant Holt after West Ham had a £3-£4m (depending on which report you read!) bid for the 31-year-old turned down.

Good player, I`m sure the links are pretty obvious to Villa with Lambert arriving, but for that age bracket, that is a lot of money isn`t it? No real sell on fee at the end of his next deal.

There's no way in the world we will or should pay 6 mil for Holt. I hope he goes to West Ham, he's a good player but we need to strengthen other areas first and wasting huge money on a 31 year old is not what we should be doing.

£6m for a 31 year that's had one good season in the Premier League? Joke. I've seen Rodriguez a few times for Burnley, can score goals in the Championship, might be worth a punt, but maybe we could do better.

If Lambert spends 6m on Holt considering the fact he's only spent around 8m in the last 3 years i'll be raging. Better value out there

Calm down dear, it's only gossip.....Lol I would only pay about 4-5m for either of them to be honest, but out of the two I'd prefer Holt as he HAS actually done it in the PL.

lol, agree Pride, it is paper talk. I do enjoy all the gossip though! I agree both players look too expensive to me though, Delph was the last expensive 'kid' and he's not been value for money as yet. If it was me spending (and you should all count yourselves lucky it isn't!!!!) I'd be going for someone more proven right now, to help supplement the great kids we have but under 30 UNLESS the price is right or bosman types.

I would take a punt on Jordan Rhodes for 4m young and scoring for fun. My only fear is he could be the new Guy Whittingham who was a prolific scorer in lower divisions but didn't quite cut it in the Premier.

I can understand wanting to buy younger players so we can at least get a sell on fee, but we would only get our money back if they were a success. If for any reason they dont come good (Delph) then were not gonna get much of our outlay back anyway. My point is that while 6m might seem expensive for Holt at least he does what hes paid to do. So what that hes only done it for 1 season in the Prem, at least he has done it. How many seasons has Gabby had???? how many did Heskey have???. If paying 6m for a striker that knows how to score and can push us up the league, then I would say why not?

Just play Bent up front, Ireland in the hole, NZgobia right forward, Gabby left forward then we don't need Holt

Holt would do a job for us, if the price is right, no more than £4m. Less wages than Heskey (1/2?) and over 100 goals in 3 years. I also think Jordan Rhodes is a good shout. Farm Fonz out to Huddersfield on loan -sorted. Holman can also play in the hole or up front or even wide, apparently.
