Lambert Deal Today Claim Press

Lambert Deal Today Claim Press

So the Lambert deal gets closer....

Timothy Abraham ?@TimothyAbraham #AVFC hope to be in a position to confirm the appointment of Paul Lambert later today. Set to be handed a three-year contract.

John Wragg and Mick Dennis have an article in The Express today saying that Paul Lambert should become Villa manager today and have a press conference on Wednesday after the Bank Holiday.

John wouldn`t print this information unless he`d had it from the right source and it 100% marries up with what I`ve heard:

They targeted Lambert ahead of Wigan`s Roberto Martinez, who was keen on joining them, despite claims to the contrary from his chairman, Dave Whelan.

Also another whisper now in print is that Norwich wrote to Villa (and I heard Liverpool also) telling them Lambert wouldn`t be available!

Talks are under way for compensation which is expected to be around the £1million mark (a year of his wages)...

Apparently there was a clause in his contract that he could talk to other Clubs.

Norwich chief executive David McNally said: "It is sad it has come to this. Paul is on gardening leave until, and unless, compensation is agreed. We do want to thank him for all he achieved at our club."

It is a bit rich how they didn`t want anyone to poach him and even more amazingly some fans (SOME) already calling him judas. Do they forget how they first got Paul Lambert to Norwich?

('Lambert's move to Norwich sparked controversy back in 2009. Colchester reported the Canaries to the Football League for a breach of regulations and misconduct after the Scot switched clubs. Norwich were forced to pay £425,000 compensation. A Football League tribunal also fined the Canaries £200,000, of which £125,000 was suspended for two years.')

what you get with Lambert is a proper manager who take no crap. If a player is messing about p155ing it up you can bet he will be out of the club asap. He can change tactics up to 3 different formations in a single game, teams struggle to work out which way we play as they are never the same. He believe in young players and not convinced of journey men just wanting the money. We were a shower of shit before he came in losing was the norm for 3 seasons. Unbelievable bloke i would say he`s one of the best managers I've ever seen here.......mike walker always close to my heart for finishing 3rd that season the only other near him.

Yoda... a Norwich fan:

Hi boys Norwich fan here . Lambert is an excellent manager who hasn't put a foot wrong in 3 years , we love him so if you wouldn't mind nicking someone else that would be good

The report also confirms that Lambert will be fully in control of football matters, there will be no Director Of Football, as Vital Villa reported a few weeks back when the rumours had started about Comelli and others.

love the way fans are calling him Judas. If Norwich had behaved with any decency and positioned themselves as wanting to help him further his career, he might have chosen to stay (Rogers nearly stayed at Swansea) or at least it make them more attractive to potential replacements. Refusing to let him talk to the Villa gave him only one option.

Oh and I love the way they say they have refusedo accept his letter of resignation.....they have no choice. the only thing that they can do is to force him to see out his notice period, however long that is, and during that period either request that he carries on working or put him on gardening leave (which they've done)

Happy days again. Very pleased with this pending appointment. As we always get managers who don't seemingly know how to make substitutions I am praying in lambo that will also be a thing of the past. Happy days indeed

A manager that will not take any crap from players, a manager that will not tolerate players just turning up to collect their wages and putting in less than a full shift, a manager that has more than one way of playing. I'm getting excited already. Can't wait for the season to start.

The man management of MON .... but more shrewd with transfers and far more tactically aware than him. Glad we have someone strong at the helm. Welcome Paul. UTV
