Transfer Talk! Grant Holt Linked To Villa!

Transfer Talk! Grant Holt Linked To Villa!

Once the new manager is formally announced we`ll start the front page transfer thread that stays with us until the end of August!

Also, I have delayed the Vital Villa fan interviews until Lambert is officially announced because obviously one of the questions will be about the appointment!

Meanwhile, we have our first bit of Paul Lambert related transfer gossip.

I think the rest of the gossip, (as below) needs to be scrapped now as it won`t relate to this managers plans.

Meanwhile, Neil Moxley at The Daily Mail says Lambert should be in place within the next 24 hours and that 31-year-old Grant Holt is sure to follow.

Neil says Lerner will give Lambert a budget in the region of £10-15million to galvanise the team.

Holt put in a transfer request recently.

He has tweeted recently re: transfer request etc. The third makes little sense to be fair!

'Can I just say the rumours about me and the gaffer falling out are very wrong so no more tweets about that please.'

'Just to stop the rumour mill again. I have expressed to the board and the CEO that I want to leave the football club. Due to disagreements'

'I have loved my 3 years at the club and it sadness me to right this but want use to here it from me first. #lovedmytime'

Holte, who joined Norwich from Shrewsbury for £400 000 in July 2009 scored 15 league and 2 FA Cup goals last season and is apparently seen as a good partner for Darren Bent.

Sunderland have also been linked.

So there you go, the first transfer rumour for our new manager, assuming Lambert does become our new manager!

And all the previous links that I think we can safely scrap now?

Not sure about that one. He's had one good season in the EPL, but that doesn't mean a second is to follow. We need proven quality that does the business time and time again. Defoe for me I think. He's looking bored at Spurs and given whats available at the moment he looks like a great shout.

because defoe and bent worked so well at spurs ? Get Holt in - get rid of "I'll bet on the keeper every time if its 1 on 1" agbonlahor and refresh the team please

... well that didn't take long did it !! lol. to be honest, when he put his transfer request in, i had a funny feeling he might of been on his way to us before Lambert.

What about gabby? + If he comes I hope it don't block Weimann and Delf playing! I would say no. Bring back Makoun, bring in Jarvis and Hoilet, maybe R Johnson or S Dann.. I would be happy.

No thanks. Lazy journalism. Holt is 31 and not what we should be looking at. I'm sure Lambert (if he comes) will want to play a big fella up top because it's his style of play but I'm equally sure he'll be able to find better than Holt. There's also no way that anyone outside the club knows the transfer budget, I'd be amazed if it wasn't higher than the number quoted as Mcleish had that much, but subject to salary cap and some caveats on the type of player (young, resale value etc etc)

think the priority is a back 4 (3 plus Lichaj playing in his CORRECT position of right back) and someone who can play the Stan role!

Holt as a direct replacement for Heskey? No problem with that, younger and more importantly scores goals. I'm always concerned about blocking younger players progress but if they're good enough that shouldn't be the case.

Are people really moaning about the possibility of one of the top scorers of the Prem last season joining us? Really?

10-15 mill will have no effect whatsoever, He may as well keep it and *****-off and get another chairman in.

and that based on press talk about a budget. The press won't have been told any budgets, it is just that, press talk. Randy has proved he spends money, but it was never an Abramovich type of takeover. He has however spent a fortune including £24m on Bent.
