Great Scot! Paul's Given Backing!

Shay Given has described Paul Lambert as fantastic and he thinks the sooner we appoint a manager for next season the better.

Speaking to The Guardian whilst the 36 year old keeper continues Euro 2012 preparations with the Republic of Ireland, he said of our potential new manager:

'If that's the case - I have no idea, because I'm stuck in Italy somewhere, about what's going on at Aston Villa - but if Paul was to come in, he would be a great appointment because he is a fantastic manager. Since he took the hotseat at any club, he hs just gone all the way up all the time, so hopefully if they can get that done, that would be great news for the club.'

Seems odd for a player to speak out so positively until it's a done deal, but it's not unheard of.

Lambert should hopefully be the breath of fresh air we need to overhaul both the playing staff and the playing style so bring it on!

Given was one of the few players to express regret at Eck's sacking. Now he's one of the first to welcome Lambo? Slippery sod isn't he? Great keeper, mind.
