POSITIVE Talk About Paul Lambert & His Record

Just a round up of some of the positive stuff on Paul Lambert

As the title suggests really: Interview With A Norwich Fan About Paul Lambert

He has also been the favourite all along since we started the poll on who you would like, he has 476 votes! Poll and thread: Click Here

Sounds good stuff.... Daily Express journalist, and Canaries fan, Mick Dennis tells the boys why he believes the Scotsman will stay at Carrow Road.

He is complimentary of Lambert isn't he? He might well be right about MON friendship but he forgot that Lambert is also big pals with Stiliyan Petrov and has visited him, so you can guarantee he's given Villa a glowing reference?!

Decent blog on the Guardian Site > Click Here about Lambert and his ability to mix up tactics (up to three changes in a game it says) which blows away the Martin O`Neill Mark II accusation out the water.

Holtelower when someone said we need a big name appointment:

Big names ?

Can I just ask, what a NAME ever did ?.

It's not about the name, its about if they fit the club / how they will do, not what they have done.

Saunders wasn't a big name, nor was Taylor.

In-fact, the only 'big' name that we ever did anything with was Big Ron.

Wenger wasn`t a big name, nor was Ferguson, or Moyes, or Mourinho (yes I know he won the Champs League with Porto - but not many people had heard of him prior to that night) , Pardew isn't a big name, nor was Redknapp.

In fact, the only BIG name managing in the Premier League was just sacked for squandering 150million quid on crap !.

Personally, I see every quality that we need now in Lambert. He is hungry, he is ambitious, he has experience in UK and abroad, he plays good football, and most importantly for me - he has a track record for taking over under achieving clubs and making them achieve.

I said after the Bolton match we needed him, the situation on that night v Bolton reminded me of the day we played in 1987 when Hodge (forgive me) passed to their player to score. What we needed then was a guy who was a disciplinarian and could change the entire culture of the club quickly.

We got Taylor and the rest is history.

This situation mirrors that, and Lambert mirrors GT in his ambition.

I am 100% happy with this appointment (if it is) and I can bet we will be back in the top 6 within 2 years.

Those people who say Lambert is boring need to talk to any Norwich supporters. Primarily he is an excellent man manager, but he also has the ability to buy players cheaply and then to motivate them to play to their best. Remember those days when a Villa manager could actually motivate players??? All managers come with a risk factor. Lambert is a risk. But, his background says he is successful, he was the manager of Colchester who beat Norwich 7-1 on the first day of the season. The Norwich board immediately sacked Gunn and appointed Lambert. In the same season they were promoted to the Championship, from which they were promoted in the following season to the Premier league. Last season they finished above us with a squad of players costing less than ONE Villa player. This guy has got an excellent pedigree.

He's had two promotions on a shoestring budget and had an excellent first season in the Prem. He didn't compromise on his ideals of good football when arrived in the Prem either. They have been a very good side to watch, full of heart and determination. Truth is, we can pick holes in any manager. Every manager has his bad times (and shocking signings). But considering what he's done and at his young age, plus the fact he strikes me as competitive and hungry for success, I feel he would be a great fit for us. We don't have the money for big signings. We need to get the best out of what we have and underpay for for some players. I think when you look at our needs, he ticks a lot of boxes.

* But of course, any of us could be wrong. It's inevitably a speculation. All appointments are a risk to a degree.

Yoda... a Norwich fan:

Hi boys Norwich fan here . Lambert is an excellent manager who hasn't put a foot wrong in 3 years , we love him so if you wouldn't mind nicking someone else that would be good ( not that i think he will leave us for one minute )

RATPACK .. another Norwich fan:

what you get with Lambert is a proper manager who take no crap. If a player is messing about p155ing it up you can bet he will be out of the club asap. He can change tactics up to 3 different formations in a single game, teams struggle to work out which way we play as they are never the same. He believe in young players and not convinced of journey men just wanting the money. We were a shower of shit before he came in losing was the norm for 3 seasons. Unbelievable bloke i would say he`s one of the best managers I've ever seen here.......mike walker always close to my heart for finishing 3rd that season the only other near him.

I spoke with the producer of the SSN show when I had a quick interview the other week, he was a Norwich fan and said he would be gutted if Norwich lost him and that with some funds and a project to get his teeth into at Villa, he'd do a good job.

His record at all his clubs is very impressive.(after Livingstone)

Not my first choice, but if he wants to come to us, then WELCOME AND SUPPORT HIM! I just hope he in return either gets rid of the dead wood or motivates them to play at a PL level again!

Would be good to get him, my big worry is where we go if he does not come to us. Not overly pushed about any of the other names mentioned. COTVABU

Must admit, if he comes, I'll be relieved that we've got a front runner, not a shocker. Think he'll do a fine job.

Going by them stats, does that mean Lambert will get Villa winning 53% of their games next season ? lol. I think he will be an excellent manager, quite gutted as i had 489 pounds profit on him the other day and because the links died down and it was all about martinez i countered the bet so now only 47 pounds profit. Hopefully Lerner gives him a budget to work with as well, and I hope to god that he gets rid of that back four. I wanted Cuellar to stay but if he doesn't deserve to stay nor does any other senior defender that we have.

If he ends up as manager I would be delighted, always my first choice. A bright young manager, who has contacts outside of britain and whos style of football I think would fit our squad like a glove with only minor changes (1/2) compared to the major overhaul that would be needed for Martinez game (5/6). If this happens I would be really up for the season. UTV!!

Very very good manager and one of my 5 I had penciled in for the job but I'll get excited when I see him sitting in a Villa shirt with PL on it.

At first I didn't like the idea of Lambert - too predictable and dull - however considering the other options I guess he is a good Choice. The things at Norwich he has done seem really good - I worry about signings though - we need cheap foreign quality not league 1 players

Until he's signed it's all paper talk I guess, but I would be happy to see him as Villa manager. He's done a great job with Norwich and looks like exactly what we need right now to turn our fortunes around. Villa4Life87 - I hear what you're saying about transfers. That's the only thing I'm uncertain of with this guy, but then again who really controls the transfer dealings with us anyway ? Fingers crossed, cos I'm really not sure who else would be available to do the right thing for us. UTV

have to say he was my second/third choice behind OGS and Poyet but thats not to say he is a poor choice, if anything i remember saying that at the end of the season, nnot norwich as such but paul lambert was bigger than us. interested to hear IF appointed what his ideas will be and from his first signing we will get a fair idea of the transfer policy, not just his direction but the boards vision. if we are realistic, we could/should finish top 10 with a decent cup run and nice football (too much to ask?)

Im very happy if this happens. I wanted him or Rodgers to be fair. This guy is BETTER than Martinez. Hes welcome to stay at Wigan and hopefully get relegated next year. If Lambert manage us hopefully he can bring Grant Holt with him :-)

Can't wait to see DB9 get service again, Albrighton and Nzogbia will be luvin it under Lambert, 3 or mopre experianced players signed would do the world of good, Ireland Gabby N'Zogbia Bent Gardner Bannan Weimann will flourish under Lambert, one last thing why is everyone saying IF Lambert comes here surely its a cert?

Slightly off topic but an interesting fact that sums up why Villa have been saddled with dross at times and do not get a fair crack of the whip. The London and Manchester press want to keep us where they want us. In never never land. Unfortunately we help them to do that by moaning and generally playing ourself down. Over the last 6 months we have had several media pundits gather round and say just how good Alex (Who - Fear) McMuppet is. This included several of the Villa Old School, Big Ron, Andy Gray, Collymore (they should all have shut the f*** up and sided with the fans) etc Ferguson kept telling everyone what a wonderful job he had done, and in general the media couldn't do enough to praise McMuppet whilst having digs at our lack of support for him and having a right go because we demanded action. Well where are these people now? There is a managerial merry go round, Albion, Swansea, Chelski, Redscouse, Norwich (hopefully) are all looking for a new manager. Why aren't the people who defended McMuppets abilities telling everybody that he is available for one of these jobs? Why has he not been linked with any of them? If McMuppet was so good (are you listening Colly, Ron, Fergiemoan, Gray) then why is he not even been mentioned as potential for one of these Premier League jobs. I will tell you why. It's because he is sh111te. We knew. Even Small Heath knew it (and he fluked them a trophy and they still hated him). Well I say to all these 'pundits', fans probably know more and have more knowledge about their club then they do. Sorry Alex, I understand you are good man. I won't say honest because you have robbed us of 4m you sock cooker. But you are sh111te manager and all your apologist friends will not help you now. Enjoy spending our money you tw*t.

Always had a lot of time for some of the names mentioned there VOTH But they really have lost that remaining bit of support was totaly disappointed in Big Ron as he tried to play the game the right way and as for Gray anyone comming from a Saunders Team should be ashamed defending the dross of last season .Anyway sod em all onwards and upwards UTV
