Mortimer Puts The Boot Into Our Seniors

Dennis Mortimer has accused our seniors of living on their past reputations this season instead of earning their money fairly by putting in acceptable performances.

In quite a damning assessment of the squad, Morty told the Birmingham Mail that whoever eventually becomes our new manager has to take a long hard look at the squad and ship out those that don't want to be here or can't be bothered to give 110% each and every game, so the squad can move forward united:

'The biggest thing they need to do is get the players sorted out. There's too many players looking after themselves. They need some strong leadership on the field fighting for each other and for the team. From what I can see, too many players there right now are living on past reputations and are not doing enough to earn their money.'

Difficult to disagree really, and nice to see it being aired in the press for a change as it's what most of us have been saying for a long time.

Singing from the same sheet as the fans, Mortimer also called for some attractive football next campaign:

'There needs to be more adventure. They've been so negative, there's no invention, no punch. They need a consistency around the players and the playing style, it's just so spasmodic.'
