Mortimer Puts The Boot Into Our Seniors

Mortimer Puts The Boot Into Our Seniors

Dennis Mortimer has accused our seniors of living on their past reputations this season instead of earning their money fairly by putting in acceptable performances.

In quite a damning assessment of the squad, Morty told the Birmingham Mail that whoever eventually becomes our new manager has to take a long hard look at the squad and ship out those that don't want to be here or can't be bothered to give 110% each and every game, so the squad can move forward united:

'The biggest thing they need to do is get the players sorted out. There's too many players looking after themselves. They need some strong leadership on the field fighting for each other and for the team. From what I can see, too many players there right now are living on past reputations and are not doing enough to earn their money.'

Difficult to disagree really, and nice to see it being aired in the press for a change as it's what most of us have been saying for a long time.

Singing from the same sheet as the fans, Mortimer also called for some attractive football next campaign:

'There needs to be more adventure. They've been so negative, there's no invention, no punch. They need a consistency around the players and the playing style, it's just so spasmodic.'

Well said Sir Dennis!

There would be a huge clear out if the new manager was to do that as the only senior players to give any kind of consistent performance were given and Ireland.(obviously as Stan is not available to us I am not including him) I would say big Dunny as well only you will think I am looking through green tinted glasses COTVABU

What a guy! Dennis for manager! As the original King Kenny used to say: "Round 'em up, put 'em in a field and bomb the (lazy, overpaid) Bas****ds!"

for everything dunne does well - he cancels out with every stupid clumsy thing he does. he gives away stupid pens and fouls and loves scoring own goals... dune, collins, warnock, hutton all need to go for me - most goals conceded with set pieces is the proof enough for me. people blame the keeper but there are 4 people who are meant to be protecting the keeper

dunne does well for the republic no idea why he can't do the same in a villa shirt. I guess cash isn't a big enough motivator...
