Villa Agreed Deal With Martinez? Can't Be Right!

Villa Agreed Deal With Martinez? Can't Be Right!

Well, this wouldn`t be good!

The Daily Star say Villa are battling with Liverpool for Roberto Martinez. Ok, nothing new there. But they also claim that Villa agreed a deal with Martinez last Wednesday and have been 'dismayed` that he then went to talk to Liverpool bosses in Miami.

If true, then I would expect Villa to say stuff it and move on surely?

They also, wrongly, say that Villa are looking at Di Matteo and Martinez after their first choice pulled out. Not true, he wasn`t first choice, he was an option and nothing more. Yup, we are talking the punt on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer which to me was still baffling... the Ole Mania was most strange!

www.sundaymercury.net say that Roberto Martinez is still in the frame as a deal with Liverpool isn`t close to completing yet.

They also say Di Matteo is in the frame.

Motor mouth, giving the press a running commentary as usual, has given Martinez a deadline (See: Tic Toc - Make Yer Mind Up Martinez Says His Boss ) and said "They`ve made Roberto an offer and he has agreed to consider it. They`re going to talk again on Tuesday." He is back from holiday on Tuesday and Whelan is quoted elsewhere saying Martinez has until Thursday to make up his mind.

Apparently Whelan is wrong and there isn`t an offer on the table.

They also name Rafa Benitez and Norwich City boss Paul Lambert who are amongst the front runners with the bookies.

Roberto Martinez forum thread: Roberto Martinez

People seem to be turning their noses up at pretty much any manager named, must be a thankless task for the board if this is what they face. When did we get so picky!? LOL

Personally I'd love Martinez to come to us just to wipe the smug grin off big Dave's fizzog, but we do seem to have become picky. I'm still waiting to see who starts the "Aston Villa Supporters - We Don't Mind Who Comes In As Long As The Football's Decent, We Improve And We Don't Finish In The Bottom Half Of The Table Again" Facebook page!

Strange one to be sure. If Villa had spoken to Martinez then surely Whelan would have told the world about it. As for De Matteo, after all his achievements even a mentalist like Abramovich has to give him another season.

Incredible.. the amount of ways that these journos try to re hash & twist the truth.. I don't think anyone knows whats going on apart from we spoke to Solskjaer & Whelan is a closet Liverpool fan.

Fear: Agree that some will never be pleased whoever is chosen. Maybe D'Ol had a point. Di Matteo? Why not? Given his current job and our current position what more do we want? OK maybe he has achieved success by letting the Terry's of this world have their own way BUT he set the team up to achieve a result and got it. What more do people want? I hear about free flowing football and goals but be realistic: with this squad? We have to discover our strengths and play to them and then move on from there.

Koolbill, Gordon was happy with Eck, his points are 95% of the time non valid. The "maybe D'OL had a point" comment is still sour grapes that he was proved wrong over the Ginger turd's employment. Spurs finished 4th and at least half their fans want rid of him!!! Villa have been starved of quarter decent football for a year or 2 but some still like to champion the owner's cause regardless. Makes you wonder if they actually understand the game or just go as they have nothing else to do?!?!?!?!

agree Gordonsleftboot, finding it fascinating, I'd be happy with most of the names linked, they'd have to bring in a right howler not to at least give the new man a chance, although I couldn't take a shock like last year I will admit! lol
