Some interesting names still in this race, others have no chance at all, Bruce, McCarthy and I'd even throw Benitez into that despite the lowering of his odds.

To be honest I would rather have Bruce or McCarthy than Benitaz do we really need another manager talking about his beloved bloody liverpool plus the fact hes a cheque book manager if ever there was one. Hope the board stick to the young vibrant manager.

Interesting to see the favourites odds grow longer. Holloway odds shortening! I don't think our players would take him seriously sadly. The fans wouldn't welcome him much either.

I'd take Rafa over Holloway every day of the week!! Cant believe what I am hearing lol. He has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world, he could attract decent players to VP , who is holloway going to attract? He has a 52% win rate and has won the champions league, UEFA Cup, La Liga just to name a few. Bugger me Villa fans what more do you want!!

Honestly can't see Benitez even being approached, he wasn't open to talking last summer without a guarantee BEFORE he would even talk.
Think Holloways mouth might actually spoil his chances of ever getting a 'big' job, if he had calmed down, he might well have been in contention as he isn't a bad manager imho and worked wonders on a shoe string at Blackpool.

Like someone mentioned in the forum, a Laudrup Laursen combo, with Laursen as the assistant, would be fantastic. But just Laudrup wuld do for me, he is the most interesting on that list and would bring something else to the table. Ticks many of the same boxes as OGS, but with more experience, and could do with some consistency.

I'm surprised that no one seems to fancy Chris Hughton, he did a great job at Newcastle and got shat on there and has since done a great job at teh Sty. I expect it's all down to predjudice (at least in the eyes ofthe media and some fans) against BCFC, especially after how the last one turned out.

Martinez or Holloway both have the same philosophy. Sort out the club from top to bottom, and attacking atractive football. Why either should be discounted because of turning us down previously or a one-off snipe is beyond me. They are great managers that tick the right boxes and would do a good job at Villa. In terms of attracting the right players in, then budgets are always a big consideration, but it is no secret to know that Holloway is a manager that players want to play for and where he is huge in ensuring a hard working well disciplined, but happy dressing room where it is a pleasure to come to train and play. That, along with his abundant tactical expertise, is a huge part of his success.

I'm hearing lots of talk about Glen Hoddle being at the Belfry last night for a chat with Randy! I spoke to some other guy who works at VP and he tells me that the buzz around the place is that Rafa is the favourite with maybe a Director of Football too.....Hodlle as DOF?

Nice to see the Vital Villa madness is spreading!
I'd not object to Hoddle to be honest, I know a good few would but I liked his Spurs and England style of play. But have others over and above to be fair. Really do doubt this Benitez thing just purely on his rudeness last year + they aren't looking for a DOF... had that from the horses mouth. Not that I should really be talking to horses to be fair.

I really dont have a clue, but one things for certain I wont let bookies odds or the press get me excited or angry thats for sure, about as reliable as a politician on election week. I wanted and like Lambert personally and would not be against an AVB type appt, but also think the board are waiting to see how the Chelsea/L'pool scenario unfolds as must clearly like martinez who has done better than last year when they were interested and Di Matteo is free and living in the midlands, so I'm sure they would at least chat with him if nowt else. In the minority I know but I think Holloway could do a decent job given the opportunity but is not someone I would want over other names mentioned, in fact I'm sticking with my thoughts from last year and campaigning for Lambert....!

Why do I have the feeling that the OSG, Martinez & Lambert talk was just to increase st sales and we will really end up with KMac who should be left alone to do what he is good at.

Holloway would have been good but he blew it when he slagged us off. I hate the fact we are waiting around like some second class citizen for Liverpool and Chelsea to make up their minds!! Di Matteo would be ok but there are better options out there and Martinez wants to go to Liverpool so see ya later to him as well. Now this leaves us with Poyet, Lambert or AVB as realistic targets I'd be happy with either of those but I'd try everything to get Rodgers, I know he won't want to ditch Swansea but make him an offer he can't refuse. He would be better than all the above names and get us playing the correct way and build us from the bottom to the top, he could stay for 10 years as well. We don't know what is going on behind closed doors but it feels to me that Randy needs to drop the nice guy act and go hard for his targets, don't worry about other teams worry about US Randy! I'm still backing him until we see who he appoints. Oh yeah I have a sneaky feeling OGS isn't out of it yet..... He had to came Molde and the media down and did so but what happens if Randy offers him a firm bid??
