Do We Need A Manager Quickly Or Just Right One?

The Express & Star who to be fair, I think have blown any credibility with their Mick McCarthy to Villa link, have a 'Villa source` who explains time frames for the manager hunt.

The Villa source told them:

"The club is getting on with the process of finding a new manager and this process has been very focused from the outset. The timeframe is not as important as getting the best man to be the manager. The club feels well positioned right now with a number- of candidates under consideration. We are conducting our own process independently of what anyone else may be doing."

Ok... fair enough in my opinion! Some are saying it is now a circus but didn`t Chelsea take longer last year to get their manager and then sacked him quicker? I can answer that one ... yes, yes they did! And again they don`t have a manager now, no one knows if Di Matteo is being kept on or not yet.

Liverpool are in the same boat, managerless and according to the press being turned down by a few approaches.

Slowly slowly catchy monkey!? So desperate for this one to be right, I`ll happily wait. I don`t want to wait and then have another shock though, which is maybe why Villa fans seem so nervous and some so angry at the moment?!

Ok, my source ... ha, I have them as well... yippee for me... was confident that things are being done right and it won`t be that long until we get the right man. People have been talked to or sounded out and progress is being made. Talk that Ole is the only one that we`ve talked to is utter pants. Ok, I might have paraphrased there, no talk of pants came up.

Could it be that they are waiting to see if Roberto Di Matteo is going to be taken on by Chelsea or not? Or waiting for Martinez? I'd rather the right man than the quickest available!

Right man please!!! Although i use to have alot of faith in Randy however that has now gone.

hopefully the right decision will restore the faith astonsteve, I'm bricking it to be honest, as I SO want them to get it right, for us and them.

The difference between Liverpool, Chelsea and ourselves is both Liverpool and Chelsea have a decent squad for any manager to walk into. With us, fairly major surgery is required. So,as far as I'm concerned, we need a new manager both quickly and the right one. Hard to please?... Yes I am as I want the best for Aston Villa.

right man for me too. Getting the right man will lift the whole club. I have faith that RL will get it right this time AND I have fiath that fans will get it right this time also - give the new guy time to build us up PATIENCE all round please

Randy needs to bring back the feel good factor, we need to show that we do have ambition!!!

Well of course the sane answer is the right one. But I showed a lot of patience last summer and we ended up with McLeish. I am patient but I make no apologies for being apprehensive! I guess the one thing is that the Euro's may get in the way of a lot of transfer activity, but as POL points out - we NEED an overhaul. Yes I think a better manager would not have had us down the bottom last season with this squad, but I still think this squad needs many departures and therefore many arrivals. For me, we need at least 8 players in and that is NOT an exaggeration. For one thing I want the whole back four replaced! In all fairness, I think Lichaj and Clark are capable of being regulars next season but we still need other players in as cover/competition. So again as POL says - right man AND quick is best! But alas, not necessarily possible. Whatever happens, for comings and goings, July should be a busy month...

I was just going to say what Pride has already said so I won't say it again.

Just my opinion I suppose but AVB would be the one for me, Liverpoo are not interested, they say, and Chelsea can only be a motivation for him! Also he needs to prove he can control a dressing room ha ha.

Chelsea, Liverpoop and the likes have massive expectations and I'm afraid we are not near them at this time and therefore imho we are a safer bet without that burden. We will have a transfer kitty although much less than the two teams above mentioned, we have exciting youth to come through and a great academy to continue to work with. Our fan expectation will always be high but we know in our hearts that if the board get it right we are back where we belong and inside of the top ten pushing on those above us. This club remains one of the best and those times are not far around the corner but only if the next manager appointment is right! We could have gone a long way with Houlls but got it desperately wrong with Ginge and now the club has done the right thing. I welcome the next vibrant young manager to B6 and would prefer that to happen sooner rather than later as there has to be some transfer targets in place even if it is just to replace what has left us. I'm trying my best to be optimistic as I can as I feel there is so much negativity at this time when we should be embracing exciting new times ahead, a Villa Park spring clean. God the lord McGrath we need it after last season. Now go and get Randy and please do it right and quickly. UTV.

As with everyone else I want the perfect manager in yesterday. In reality I think we can take a few weeks but should be aiming to have someone in place before the start of the euros.
