pretty sure Guzan would want first team footie at this stage of his career now and he knows he won't get ahead of Given really?

Thanks Emile will miss your one goal a season. The lads used to have a night out to celebrate this occasion every year.

Yep, sad about King Carlos. Guzan wants first team football and Emule,.... well what can you say that avfcfazza hasn't said. And, good luck to the young academy players that have been released. Keep plugging away lads... you never know, something may pop up for you.

Agreed Pride, Robbie Savage was released by Man Utd all those years back, he did ok for himself career wise. Bad example on here really! lol

I literally can't remember a good game that Heskey's played since his debut at Pompey. What a waste of talent that guy was. I don't think he was ever cut out to be a striker, maybe a fullback or something he'd have been class.

Can't say I'm surprised, we all knew this was coming. A lot of work to be done with the squad in the summer, whoever our new manager is he's going to have to be bloody good!

I think with Guzan leaving it gets rid of any rumours about Shay moving on elsewhere

Good luck Emily, he was past it when we bought him anyway. Of course when Steve Bruce is hired as manager he'll be back in a shot on a new 4 year deal.

Surprised to see Connor move on, he was one of the names I was watching following his progress this season, but he did have a mini spell at Tammy late on in the season so maybe he feels a crack at more first team opportunities serves him better than reserve games?? Seems a little early for that decision though as if memory serves he ain't long turned 16?

Mike, he's been released which normally means that the club felt he wasn't going to make it rather than him choosing a different path.

This is all good news for me. It means that whoever teh new manager is he can concentrate on building.

Released is usually no new contract offered or accepted, but youth levels are different. The club were really positive about him this season which is what made me wonder if it was a mutually beneficial decision? Just struck me as the strange one in the list.

Lets hope Shays injury isn't worse than feared. I am a little different to most in that I think Guzan was a better all round keeper than Given. I still think that the reason we conceded more goals from within our six yard box than any other team is that Given cannot command it. His shot stopping and handling are excellent, but I believe Guzan proved he had learned his lesson after his poor performance agains Blackburn a few seasons ago. I think this could be one to haunt us. Shay was injury prone in his prime, it will not get better as he gets older.
