Ole NOT Offered Villa Job

Okay whilst the dust settles and the rumours and speculation slowly dies a death as fans go a little mental over news that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has 'removed himself' from the running of becoming our manager, let's focus on a few things.

1 - we held an informal interview only. We didn't hold a formal interview. Informal possibly because neither Paul nor Randy had ever had the chance to meet Ole previously.

2 - the club in their only comment all week have said we were interviewing numerous other candidates.

3 - in doing so we can presume that other candidates impressed more than Ole did (although I think we all agree he is going to be as much a household name in the future as a manager, as he was a player).

4 - it's possible - given we didn't offer him the job - that we told him as much given the over the top reaction from Molde's sponsors and the degeneration of relationships in the press with the leaked questions and the like, and Ole publicly withdrew his interest from the job in order to repair some bridges. Afterall, his own words were that if Villa didn't offer the job (which he would only consider) he had two years left at Molde and intended to see out his contract.

Therefore, he hasn't turned us down as some suggest. He has done what is right and proper for his career and his family. He never once said 'he wouldn't turn us down' as some have suggested, he only ever said he would make a decision as and when necessary.

The club equally have done nothing wrong here, despite some attempts to blame them for everything including global warming.

We didn't offer Ole the job, he had nothing to turn down. In the boards view they have better candidates to take us forward at this moment in time.

Nobody knows who that might be, so the bile and the vitriol is probably best placed on hold for now unless people really feel the need to lose their toys over twitter and press speculation as opposed to true facts.

As of typing their is no official announcement on the Official Site, and given (I again repeat) he wasn't offered the job I wouldn't really expect to see one - however the club have briefed the press and stated that Ole removed himself from the running due to family commitments.

Is there a lesson, don't believe everything you read in the press, on Twitter and from those who love to peddle speculation with distorted headlines?

As ever the only true thing to believe is what the club say when they make a statement because they have something to offer.

PMSL just read. Oh well, maybe both of us using facts will help lol Then again I normally ignore you, so I doubt it'll make a difference!

Green Villan
Definately would be the most time, effort and money spent on just a chat - come on don`t be daft.
ASPINALL
Green Villa what are you on about? Firstly no need for the aggression and bad language, secondly it is very obvious that OGS had a gun put to his head by the backers saying they would pull the plug if he left. How could Randy be blamed for that? I agree about Falkner, would love to see him out. COTVABU

During the search for a new manager we will be linked to every man and his dog, it doesn't surprise me that the press etc get it wrong and we all over react. Until we hear it from official site who is the next manager then I will not believe.UTV.

Regardless of the details, I'm utterly devastated. Totally gutted that he won't be our new manager. He's an out and out winner who has learnt from the best. In my opinion, he's a totally different level to the likes of Lambert, Rodgers and Martinez due to his heritage. I don't care whether he was offered the job or not (blatantly was)...this is a massive blow either way.

I just wish we would manage to keep our business out of the press! It always seems to be a drama around us and yes whilst our expectations and clamour for information don't help, it has to be said that the club don't help things at all. I know people are saying we never offered it but the old saying of no smoke without fire fits well. For once, lets hope we get it right, I fear there's more riding on this than we all realise.

You say in this piece Mike that the club are being "blamed for everything including global warming!" but is it REALLY a coincidence that he has ruled himself out on such a sunny day??? lol Although I would have welcomed OGS with open arms, in truth he is currently managing a team 2nd in the top Norwegian league, which is the equivalent to our 1st or 2nd divisions at best, so would that put the manager of the top team in the running? - i think not!
griffgriff
Maybe Mick Mcarthy is back in the frame lol. Lets just be patient and see who we end up with people cant blame the club for the news and press coverage that is in overdrive. Its the fans that crave this information on sites like this and twitter and then moan the club aren't telling us anything or we should do our business in private. Dont seem to me that the club can win one way or the other. Calm down dear UTV

lol@pride, it is a hell of a service isn't it?! lol
The Fear
I think they'd have wished the same cannock, remember it was all over in Norway and Ole talking, our lot have kept their silence (rightly)
The Fear
Cannock, fans would have to stop tweeting details like where Randy's plane is for that to happen. A fan started this circus and then more fans and the press built on it.

PMSL Griff! I like that!
