OGS Offered OR Will Be Offered Job - Update 3

Twitter has gone slightly mad again tonight following the earlier news that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was meeting with Rokke, the owner of Molde's main sponsors.

It appears his wife and his agent were again in tow, and they were treated to yet another private jet trip to meet with the Aker owner.

Most recently it appears TV2 are reporting that sources close to Villa (why us and not sources close to OGS I don't know) have suggested that OGS either has been, or will shortly be, offered the position of our managerial hotseat.

As ever with speculation it could turn out to be nothing, but there is certainly a wave being ridden when it comes to Ole now with the majority of fans clearly behind welcoming him to B6.

In other news it appears Morten Gamst Pedersen has either been interviewed or tweeted saying:

'You don't say no to an offer from Aston Villa.'

So everybody is in a little bit of a frenzy now.

If anything happens I'll update this article, failing that and if you're like me and don't use social media - our Forum Thread on the baby faced assassin, is a reliable and excitable way of keeping up with the speculation.

Update 1

Birmingham Mail are now reporting that they understand that Ole has pulled out of being in the frame to become our manager.

There are no quotes attributed, and this does contradict an earlier tweet from Norwegian journalists that Ole refused to confirm whether he would be at Molde next season.

I'll let you make your own minds up here.

Update 2

All good fun this. Dagladet are now carrying quotes from Ole after the meeting and have him quoted as saying:

"We have had a very pleasant conversation. It has been a nice evening of good food. We will soon announce how it will be in the future, we will soon announce."

It appears the phrasing is what set Twitter off earlier about him being offered the job, simply because he refuses to answer simply with - I will be staying at Molde.

Again, read into it as you will.

Update 3

Neil Moxley (Daily Mail) has just tweeted that the club have confirmed that Ole has removed himself from the running for the managers seat, stating that the club have given a briefing confirming it. Quotes if I can find them to be added.

This all seems positive news. The fans are behind the idea. There seems to be a number of positive candidates that are keen. Compare this to last season and the last appointment - what a contrast!

No he's back over here. Like as has been said all along, Ole was a candidate and we've been looking at others. Nobody even knows for sure yet if he was offered the job. So not sure why the standard belittle the club routine is out in force.

Whoooooaaaa! So we rule out Ole, so what? Onwards now and heads up. Lambert would be an excellent target. As would his wantaway striker Holt....Turkish would get his wish for a partner for Bent too! Goooooo Lambert! Or Rodgers please lol.

Relax all you just cannot believe all that is in the press. If OGS does not come then maybe it was because Randy isn't ffering him the role and after interviewing him has decided that it is too riske'. Lambert for me.

@mike_field.....totally agree with you about the "belittle the club routine".....we need to have patience and actually realise that the clubs mentality has changed for the better just by speaking to a young attacking manager with great connections. Let's all get behind the club...besides, Ole-Frodo was always a very very risky one.

why are so called Villa fans so quick to criticise the club. We talked to him twice decided that it wasn't right and have moved on. There could be any number of reasons, maybe he was reluctant to move his family over, maybe we wanted assurances that he couldn't give or vice versa.

not sure where we go from here to be honest. Martinez seems to have made it clear that he prefers the red scouse and apparently we haven't even approached lambert yet. Disappointed that it won't be OGS and just hope that Randy is seen interviewing someone else that we can get excited about soon

Its his wife and kids. Nothing to do with how we manage things. He is completely settled in his native Norway in a beautiful part of the country on the bank of the Fjords and has a good contract. His wife would not have wanted this move.

Difficult to know what to make of it all. Last year we appoint a man that was universally not wanted. This year we find someone that seems to meet with almost universal approval and the deal isn't sealed. Whatever the reasons doesn't on the face of it look good. Can you imagine abramovich getting a knock back for family reasons, I can't !

Guys, pls don't place the blame for the media circus on AVFC, it is after all a MEDIA circus. They are doing what they do best and printing anything to get a bite. It'll all come out in the wash.
