Interview With A Norwich Fan About Paul Lambert

Interview With A Norwich Fan About Paul Lambert

Following on from our Interview With A Wigan Fan On Roberto Martinez I`ve only been and gone and done one with our Vital Norwich editor with reference to Paul Lambert. Wild times folks, wild times!

With thanks to Dill at http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/

1) So, links to Paul Lambert for Villa. It is only press talk so could be well wide of the mark. What is the general feeling amongst the Canaries fans?

Anything from unease to sheer panic depending on who you talk to. In many ways Villa seem the 'sort' of club that could suit Lambert but from the outside looking in I'm not convinced it would be a great move for him. I think he'll have his eyes on a bigger job elsewhere.

2) Do you think he has the loyalty to stay or will he look to progress his career? Do you fear Liverpool or Villa might nab him?

Oh he'll go at some point, I don't think anyone doubts that, it's just a case of waiting for the right offer to come along.

3) Your board of directors have said they don`t want any approaches, do you think that is posturing for a good pay off or will they fight?

They'll fight alright, but they'll know there is very little they can do in reality to stop him going. It's all about trying to make it work for each side.

4) Do you know, is it true he is on a rolling 12 month contract, has there ever been much talk about that in Norwich circles?!?!

He joined originally on rolling twelve-month contract which was re-negotiated following each promotion, but as far as anyone knows publicly he still has a rolling deal.

5) Ok, pretend (!) you are trying to convince us we SHOULD have him. Tell us his best qualities and style etc

He's young, ambitious, proven that he can work wonders on a limited budget and doesn't come with a load of unwanted baggage. He's precisely the sort of manager a club like Villa should be going for.

6) Can you see him being tempted with a bigger budget, larger ground/history and also the world class training facilities at Bodymoor health (not blowing our own trumpets here but they training set up is unbelievable!)

Who wouldn't be? The issues are more likely to centre around what the budgets would be, and how much control he would have. Lambert is certainly no 'yes' man.

7) Would you have any warnings about lesser qualities? ie some Villa fans fear he`s not had large budgets before and hasn`t had to deal with 'star` players and their egos?!

Lambert hasn't dealt with big budgets as a manager, but that wouldn't put me off. And is a 'star player' stepped out of line he'd deal with them quickly and privately - and they'd be gone.

Everything Dill says confirms my beliefs and that Lambert would be a good manager for the Villa. I was 100% before OGS came on the scene. Now I'm split, so I'd be more than happy with either, but I suppose I'd have to go 51/49 with Lambert because of his greater experience not only in the PL but in managerial roles within England.

sounds like lambert, martinez or ogs would all be great for villa... Not sure if ogs is ready for the premier league yet. I just have visions of Paul Ince again, in his spell in the league - he didn't do so great. But I guess some people are just cut out for management and some not - regardless of their past experience. Hey look at Mcleish - disaster.

my god lambert has a mid table finish in the prem and fans think the top 4 will be after him - oh please - get real - next season is massive for lambert and rodgers - the curse of the second season has proved loads of times that these teams sink. we will see how well they do - id rather have OGS who has massive potential as a manager and has winning man u mentality. he has intelligence and was a genius at measuring up a team to score against them. his proves he has tactical awareness of the game. and his first main managerial job he already has a title.

Good solid no nonsense manager would be more than happy with a shortlist that inluded OGS,Lambert.Villas boas, all cracking managers or in OGSs case going to become one. There is some good talented managers there this time and a large number available. I note Martinez is reported to be meeting Liverpools owners in the U.S.A.

If you told me a month ago that we would end up with Lambert OGS or Martinez I would have been over the moon. Will be happy with any of them. Whoever we get will play 100x better football than McCleish bring the excitement back to VP and make us feel pride as a club again ...

Can't be disappointed with all the links we've had so far, still think there's going to be a 'twist' to this saga. It wouldn't be Villa if there wasn't, would it!!

I really hope not Cannockvilla!! Please not again!! Great names linked, I'd be happy with 3 or 4 of any of them. I think it's Ole though and he'll sign a week from now when Molde have their holiday break.

Lambo is my first choice. OGS is just too much of an unknown quantity. As I've said before, even Mourinho couldn't have done a better job at a club like Norwich than Lambert.

good interview i like fan interviews but i wonder why no other club is after him or have them on their short list not even Westbrom are looking at him yet Martinez has been on Spurs radar earlier in season and now on Liverpools and also even westbrom.
