Verity Proud Of His Squad

Sean Verity has said he is very proud of the lads as they finished runners up in the Soccer Sevens tournament.

Speaking to the Official Site after we lost 2-1 to Newcastle in the final, the coach said the players could be proud of themselves and they should cherish the experience they've just had:

'I am very, very proud. We started in the competition on Saturday and I spoke to the lads and said it's up to them to create something that people will remember them by. We sat at the Gala dinner and a lot of fantastic things were said about our club and some of the players who have played in this tournament. I saw a little bit of fear in our lads faces, thinking they can't live up to that. But I said to them when our teams come here in three or four years time they will be watching Daniel Johnson and Josh Barton and Benjamin Siegrist and thinking 'can I aspire to be them?'

That should certainly be the case with the calibre of youth players we have again at reserve level and Verity thinks the Leicester game will go down in history for the dramatic nature of our come back:

'We played some fantastic football, scored some great goals and we were just a bit unlucky at the end. The Leicester game was fantastic and it will live long in my memory, the whole weekend will. I can't say enough about the way all of these lads have played all season.'

Plenty for OGS to get his teeth into. ;)

Really think Siegrist and Johnson could have big futures

I'd imagine the youngsters are also excited with the probability of OGS coming to the club.
