Villa Lose In Soccer Sevens Final

Villa made it to the final of the Soccer Sevens before again falling to Newcastle.

The Geordies were the thorn in our side yesterday as they beat us 1-0 in the group stages, and they lifted the Trophy after taking the final 2-1.

It was an impressive run against from our youngsters though, and they certainly should be pleased with their performances and their progress.

Today started out with the Quarter Final against Leicester where we trailed 2-0 early in the first half, before Daniel Johnson again found the net - from the penalty spot - before the break. Johnson grabbed himself a brace in the second half before Connor Taylor scored the winner and see us through to the Semi Finals with a 3-2 victory where we faced Rangers.

Daniel Johnson is clearly going to go down as the player of the tournament for us, and he helped himself to another goal against the Glasgow outfit as we won 1-0.

Therein the dream ended against Newcastle with the aforementioned 2-1 loss. A deflected Grealish cross was our consolation.

No disgrace in losing in the final. Would of been nice of course, but it's the experience thats the winner.

Indeed! Well played by all the young lions and Daniel Johnson in particular - what an exciting midfielder!
