OGS Press Conference & Bits (Updated Twice)

A bit more on the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fall out in Molde, and his chances of actually being our new manager.

Twitter stuff via Prep :-)

Villa sources close to Dagbladet says RL and PF were impressed with OGS. The meeting lasted four hours.

Dagbladet thinks OGS seems irritated by the fact that Molde questions his loyalty and professionalism.

They also believe that OGS's realtionship with the board have soured in light of all the events.

Clauses in OGS's Molde contract: if a club approaches the club for his services, they would have to reach an agreement with Molde.

Admittedly nothing earth shattering and snippets of those were doing the rounds yesterday such as the 4 hour meeting.

Most interestingly though OGS has confirmed that we scouted him for the informal chat, he hadn't made contact with the club himself over the position.

He also, despite the sponsor fall out and club backtracking that's gone on, OGS states categorically he has handled all of this in the proper manner, that he would have regretted not taking the opportunity to talk to Villa, and he doesn't believe he has anything to answer in terms of the Aker issue.

He also says that whilst Randy's jet arriving in the morning, as opposed to the night before, would have been useful, the press and the leaks wouldn't have been any different. So his behaviour and the club's have been spot on, and the only people to answer for the furure around the interview are the sponsors themselves.

Watch the interview, it's translated:

It's not quite come and get me, as he is acting properly with his words, but I think it's clear he doesn't appreciate the behaviour of the Molde chairman in his comments directed at him and the press response, but also that he's ours if wanted.

Sent from Prep who runs Vital Villa twitter for us:

More quotes emerging from OGS

"Ole quotes: "If I get an offer, I will leave as soon as I can. I will offer Eikrem a deal and I will bring Richard Hartis and Mark Dempsey.""

"This is what Ole answered to his bosses when he was given permission to talk to Villa." | Norwegian article: Confirmed by the Molde-director and Ole has said: "It's basically what I said."

During the press conference Saturday morning would not MFK-management or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to say what the manager answered the three questions from the boards of ASA Molde Football and Molde FK, and the owner Røkke. Tarje Nordstrand Jacobsen said only that Solskjaer did not give the answers they wanted.

Saturday night, MFK Director Tarje Nordstrand Jacobsen in Rbnett with the answers from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - so Jacobsen reproduces them from the conversation.

1. Will you lead the MFK of the season?

- It`s a hypothetical question, but I get an offer, I will travel as soon as I can - probably after the game against Hønefoss.

2. If / when you go from MFK, will you bring someone from the support of MFK?

- I want to bring Mark (Dempsey) and Richard (Hartis).

3. If / when you go from MFK, will you take with you some of MFK`s players?

- Yes, I want to make an offer to Magnus Wolff Eikrem.

- Furthermore, I confronted Ole Gunnar that he would not take such a situation had developed on Thursday evening (May 17th). If he went by plane the next day, it would possibly have consequences. In my experience this, this was a ordrenekt of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said MFK Director Tarje Nordstrand Jacobsen Rbnett.

Another Update

It seems that OGS has responded to the publication of the alleged questions and answers -

It is sad that a conversation between me and a leader in MFK comes out. This shows what kind of game this is, says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Romsdals Budstikke.

Is there a correct representation of your answers?

No, it's not a 100% accurate representation of my answers. The main ingredients, however, I can confirm. Today we had a nice conversation within the club where we agreed that we should look forward. And then comes this out. This benefits no club.

How would you comment on the content of reproduction?

I have a team around me that it would be natural to take with you. But it is not the situation now. I have not received an offer to consider from Aston Villa. Now I wanted to look ahead with MFK.

Really doesn't look like Molde are coming out of this very well following Aker's over reaction.

my fear is that Randy takes too long over this, and another club ( Liverpool? Mind you, cant see OGS wanting to go to the scousers with his Manc background) nips him and grabs him before we do

why would OGS commit managerial suicide by going to pool? that job is a disaster for most managers - they expect 4th with those overrated players. Villa is by far the right choice for him - randy WHY HAVENT YOU OFFERED HIM THE JOB???

Liverpool going for OGS? No chance, they want and need a bigger name.

nooo i'm just saying - we don't want to drag our feet here. Offer him the job, get him signed, and we have nearly 3 months to prepare for next season

Sounds (reads!) like a top bloke. Handles media and speaks well - unlike the drivel that has been spurted fro the last year. I agree, go get him Randy.

It was such an inspired option to come up with - OGS for manager - I would LOVE to know who came up with the genius idea of approaching him. It CAN'T have been Lerner or Faulkner

You have to interview / talk to everyone on your shortlist first. Press are reporting Lambert Monday, I guess there might be another rabbit out there. Tuesday / Wednesday should know who they are going to plum for, I can't imagine Randy wanting to stay in the UK for weeks on end...

agree daveyboy. They might speak to another candidate and be more impressed. Everyone would have been up in arms two days ago if the board had come out and said that they weren't going to consider Lambert, rodgers, martinez, AVB etc

You get the *****ters etc then you have the Premier League News spouting out every time you come onto the homepage, saying he's not.... we just have to wait until something comes through "Official" channels.

He impressed me in the interview. Seems a very self-confident and determined, yet not arrogant, person. Speaks bloody good Norwegian too.

You can see it in his eyes - THE DEAL IS DONE .... he just can't say it.... Welcome Olie to my team .... Lets now go on and build a team and hopefully we will copy Chelsea's result tonight. It just goes to prove it's about luck. You don't have to finish top of the league to win the Champions League. Gotta feel sorry for Spurs. Maybe next season with OGS we can finish 4th and then next season copy our stars of the 80's..... i'd love it AGAIN ..... Can but dream eh ?

They cannot speak to Lambert unless Norwich give us permission. If we do we are in trouble with the FA and Premier League - where have Norwuch give us permission - not seen it on sky nor in papers.

Let's just get him and get it done. Could be really good for us. Young hungry manager, respected in the game. I would prefer this bold and exciting move for an up and coming managerial talent than MON's mate Lambert, who, on reflection, might well flood us with league one players.

He's my top choice now. I wasn't convinced with Lambert and Martinez is massively overrated IMHO. AVB is as much a risk after his short time at Chelsea. Hell, who didn't want Ole at Villa as a player? I know he was on my wish list every year. And, yes, I know that a fine playing career will translate to a top one in management, but the more I see of him the more I think, given time, he could really turn us around. Big thumbs up to RL and PF if this comes off.

The only info that appears concrete at the moment is that Mr Solksjaer has said he is still under contract in Norway. How can it be in these posts that anything different is forthcoming. It seems that he has done Villa the courtesy of coming here for a look around. I think, therefore, we may have to prepare ourselves for his refusal - although I hope not. The implications of this refusal however points to the fact that a coach in the Norwegian First Division, would not be interested in becoming manager of a Premier League side. This in itself is a damnation of the way Messrs Lerner and Faulkner have decimated our once proud football club. Believe me, this is from a bucket half full attitude, but we are so feeble as a club at the moment, I seriously doubt whether any true contenders would be interested in the position.

I know McLeish has managed so much negaitivity into us all but ffs. First of all he has not refused but if he did then his reasons for a potential refusal may be down to personal things such as his kids, lifestyle, whether he feels he has learnt enough yet. If you take a look at the video from MUTV he has a pretty idylic lifestyle in which to ply his trade. Let's face it the views from the Birmingham to Fazeley canal don't really compare. So let this thing play out before we all jump on Lerner and Faulkner's case for this. To be honest if they hadn't had the foresight to engage in looking at many different candidates and running a process, we'd still be looking at the same old faces for the job. Also just stop and think about the compensation issues here as well. If we could reach an amicable solution with Molde to get him during their season break then we've got a lot more chance of getting something sensible agreed and maybe wouldn't burn our bridges if we try and get a couple of their players over as well. Slowly slowly catchy monkey!!

I'm with Matt B on this one - it was a farce last time I agree but the circumstances were very different then. Then we'd been 6th three times on the bounce with a lot of average, expensive players and had an awkward time with Houllier. Now our wages are sensible, there is time and should be some money to spend to Molde(!) the team into what the new manager wants and it should be easy to appease us lot - after last year I'm sure we'd all settle for some positive football and a mid table finish as a springboard to the year after. Only a few days ago I sarcastically commented that'd not even consider a foreign manager and none of you thought we'd be talking to OGS until we were either I suspect. The club seems to have a good handle on things now.
