Ole Goner...? Press Say Not Coming (Updated)

SSN reporting that OGS will not be Villa manager..

More when we get it.

Just also seen..

@StanCollymore: BREAKING Ole Gunnar Solskjaer staying at Molde. #talksport

Nothing official as yet by the way folks.

The Associated press, see: www.winnipegfreepress.com are also now claiming that Solskjaer won`t be looking to move from Norwegian club Molde.

Solskjaer held his usual news conference today and said that, according to this report, that he still has two years left on his Molde deal and isn't "on the look-out for a new job."

But then, why come over and talk?

And now I`m sure everyone will slate the board and say he has turned us down before knowing any facts.

THEY ARE JUST INTERVIEWING RIGHT NOW... !

Rawlie just said as below:

There's a Villa fanatic / journalist over there called Andreas Meide, who I'm following on Twitter (@andymeide) and he didn't see it like that at all. He's worth a follow as is Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) , who's a pundit in Norway now. It just sounds like Ole's playing his cards close to his chest until Sunday's game is out of the way.
Rawlie

It is important to remember that Ole hasn't been offered any job yet. He might not have impressed, he might have. We don't know. He might have come over to test the waters and decided he wants to stay in his hometown and allow his kids to grow up there.

OR it might change, he might be offered a job and take it.

I can't understand the heartbreak for some on this one, I'd rather we gambled on our own Lionheart.. Martin Laursen!

Updated:

ESPN Solskjaer added: "I have an ambition to be a manager in the Premier League, but I'm not seeking a new job. In football, and in life in general, things turn up that you have to make decisions about. I have a contract for two more years and I'll stand by that."

Tweet from his Norwegian strike partner....who was interviewed yesterday on SSN about OGS.

My feeling: If Aston Villa offer Solskjær the job, Solskjær is Villa- manager 1st of June. #avfc #talksport

Well and truly gutted if this is true. Watched doc on him this morning. He's just what we need. Martinez and Lambert pale in insignificance IMHO. Still think there's a chance. #praying
olofthegreat
Football as we all know is a funny old game, you just never know, until Ole says it himself I am holding on to him being our manager, forget the media they've always messed us about...horses mouth and all that, keep the faith!
Kojak
Get Martin Laursen instead, he's a Villa boy!
The Fear
he said he intends to see his contract out - but he hasn't been offered anything! this is a massive assumption by SSN... i hope their wrong but I'm in mega depression now
villa4life87
So *****ed off about this misinterpretation...it's going to make us look like chumps again. The Sun headline 'Ole snubs Villa'. Utter lies. Gutted.
olofthegreat
I feel a farce coming on!

What do we expect him to say ?? He had an informal chat ! "they haven't offered me anything yet, but if I'm given the chance I'll drop this lot like a hot potato and jump straight back on randys aircraft".......not giving up hope just yet......
miss polite
Never wanted Frodo anyway!!!!! :-(
koolbill
The Sun and SSN are making us like dicks. I've told them off on Twitter...and Collymore for fear mongering!
olofthegreat
this is a joke - SSN SHOULD NOT BE PUTTING ASSUMPTIONS UP AS FINAL STATEMENTS - TO ME OGS HAS JUST SAID WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT HIM TO SAY REGARDING CONTRACTS - IF WE HAVENT OFFERED HIM THE JOB HOW CAN HE SAY HE IS LEAVING???
villa4life87
more importantly, this has disturbed me eating ham cobs, so back to that I go!
The Fear
The only "joke", "farce" or "embarrassment" I can see are the comments from some of our supporters. Can we all just calm down!!?? Aston Villa Football Club have NOT mentioned any names. Any press leaks have come from elsewhere. We are interviewing candidates. Christ a live. Get a grip people. Calm down & STOP carrying on!!
Adam Deuce
It is good to point out but no one will listen he hasn't been offered anything, just the chance to have a talk. It might change if he is actually offered a job!
The Fear
nope he hasn't - so by that alone the media should jump on the bandwagon and assume he won't come. and if villa don't have any intention of offering him the job - don't bring a bloody jet to pick him up and waste a load of time for just an informal discussion. as result this gets picked up by the media building hopes or depression for the fans.. then gives them the excuse to say OGS has snubbed. one word for this - joke
villa4life87
Also worth noting that SSN also claim Liverpool have "snubbed" by 2 candidate. Clearly their word of the day.
Adam Deuce
Agree Adam.. there is no panic, they are just interviewing. SOme press are saying in headlines he's turned us down, he hasn't, he hasn't been offered the job so how can he turn it down?!
The Fear
Problem with kind of shoddy reporting is that whoever does get appointed looks like 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice which is total rubbish.
Ams78
Thank feck. What the hell did villa fans want from this??? The guy is totally unproven and would have been a potential Zola. Just 'cus a guy is a big name from footaball's past doesn't mean a jot. Why not Viera? Or Pele!? It's nonsense. Can we have a proper manager please?
simonbigron
what did MAD magazine say? ...."what? me worry?" one of the great disappointments of the internet is the easy access to too much crud media.
leftfoot
The farcical thing about all this is that the board have known for months that Eck was going to get the push. Why couldn't they approached OSG discreetly before the end of the season to see what his situation was. I know its commendable the way we have acted but nobody else bloody does it that way. At face value this looks like we sacked Eck, knocked up a quick shortlist, rolled out the red carpet for OSG and he's gone back home & turned us down. I know there is more to it than this, but to the rest of the football world it looks like yet another manager has rejected us in public. It does nothing but lower the profile of our club. What chance have you got of attracting players on the basis of us being a large ambitious club when the managers of Molde & Wigan reject us in front of the footballing world. The board are public relations morons and even if you don't agree, I personally feel like we are a laughing stock. P1$$ed off now, I'm going to the pub.
tebor1978
The manager of Swansea has turned down talks with Liverpool. Does that also make them a laughing stock?? Who knows what has been discussed and with who?? It may have been Villa who have told OGS that having discussed the job, they feel he is not yet ready?? We just do not know.
Ams78
I tell you what, it certainly hasn't done anything to cement their position as one of the elite clubs in world football.
tebor1978
Having read what Norwegian media pundits and fans have said today (after a diplomatic TV interview in which OGS said he was under contract but couldn't conceal his ambition or the size of the Villa opportunity), it seems pretty clear that if he is offered the job, he'll come.
Freelancelot
what has collymore been doing to me this time olofthegreat LOL
The Fear
Jesus , there's some drama queens on this site ! Informal talks didn't pan out with someone at the beginning of the hiring process and already words like "farce" and "laughing stock" and being thrown about . Save the hysterics for when we're getting knocked back by the likes of Steve Bruce .

simonbigron - Watch 'Gunning for Glory' on YouTube then reassess your 'can we have a proper manager' comment please. Fear - rumour has it you've been mongering the hell out of Collymore!
olofthegreat
We just have to wait for the facts to unfold. One thing for certain, there's no such thing as a certainty until it is official FACT!

The Fear
shut it pride, you'll put me out of business! LOL

Why Panic. Ole Hasn't Been Offered Anything YET
The Fear
"Informal talks" are not sending the private jet over to pick someone up for a 24 hour round trip, midweek in the middle of a season. Lambert or bust.
Villan444
"I have a contract for two more years and I'll stand by that."
Villan444
Olof - Why? Unless that documentary tells me that he managed a Barclay's Premier League team while in Norway, then he is no more qualified than any other ex-player that used to be a decent footballer. He isn't a proper Premier League managerial candidate and after last season, I don't want experiments. It is utter nonsense that we are all getting excited based on NOTHING but the fact we hated McLeish so much, anyone will do.
simonbigron
444 + tebor, it might be a little bit difficult for you to grasp but having a private jet is like sending a taxi only a little bit dryer given the amount of water involved. You'd have been moaning if it had come out that OGS was interested but we told him to make his own way over in economy class on Scandanavian Air, and so he decided not to come because we didn't seem interested. Asking candidates to come in for an intital interview is the standard first step in any recruitment process, show them the facilities, introduce them to people they might work with and discuss how they might go about doing the job and addressing the challenges. The candidates who make a good impression are then asked back for a second interview or made an offer depending on how many good candidates there are.
AVbornandbred
Simonbigron what constitutes a proper manager. Can't see Lambert, Martinez or too many meeting that criteria. One season (in Lamberts Case ) doesn't make him fantastic and i would say if he's still at Norwich next season they will not fair so well. It happens every season
cynicalone
Simonbigron - Bruce, McLeish, McCarthy, Curbishley, Dagleish, Keane, Allerdyce, Peter Reid, Bryan Robson, they all have experience as Premier League managers and something else they all have is the fact that they are crap and nowhere near good enough to be Villa manager. Tell us how much Premier League experience Wenger, Ferguson, Moyes, had before they got their current jobs. Then think again about OGS. I will be happy with Martinez, Lambert or OGS.
TelfordVilla
I must confess Ams, I was laughing at my mate who is a Liverpool fan all afternoon for being turned down by the Swansea manager! haha
revolutionatlast
nail on the head there TelfordVilla
revolutionatlast
BornAnInbred, it obviously seems simple to you as but that's elementary my dear Watson. Seems like you've had lots of jobs, or at least interviews. I have very good friends who work in recruitment in the city. They post people for jobs earning more than OGS would get if he came to us or anywhere. Sending private jets seemed an outlandish way to do something that should be easier although I understand after reading more of the so-called translations (that transpire daily) that there's no normal flights from the hamlet that OGS lives at. If you'd made that point, you may sound like you know what you're talking about rather than just relaying to us your last trip to the jobcentre.
