Ole Gunnar Solskjaer In Norwegian Hot Water?!

Neil Moxley at has an interesting article this morning.

Apparently Ole Gunnar Solskjaer flew back into a bit of a storm in Norway as his current club Molde (and former Wimbledon) owners (or major investors at least) weren`t too happy that he`d jetted off without their permission to talk to Villa.

Well, if you want him as manager, that just might make it a bit easier to get him then?

Neil`s report says But it seems that the damage to Molde could leave Solskjaer in a difficult position. The former owners of Wimbledon, Kjell Inge Rokke and Bjorn Rune Gjelsten, were unhappy. The did not authorise his trip to England and are threatening to withdraw their patronage.

Solskjaer has a press conference today for his teams game, he`ll bound to be asked and I would assume he`ll refuse to comment!

Ole has already said: 'I can confirm I have spoken to Aston Villa. It was not negotiations, but a first talk."

Full report:

Meanwhile say that the talks went well and 'he is believed to have made a decent impression`.

I kinda wonder how they think they`d know that? Randy and Paul wouldn`t be talking and Ole hasn`t let on how the talks went, just that they did have talks.

I`m surprised at those that are surprised that we are currently interviewing candidates, the 2+2= he will be manager by tonight type stuff is a bit mad really. We want the right man, not the quickest to appoint don`t we?

It might well still be Ole, but where is the immediate rush? Yes, it needs to now be done within the next week or so and I`m sure it will be. But he panic of some is ott, this time we have time, and we all want them to get it right after last seasons disappointment don`t we?!

I think everyone has been swept up and away with the OSG media storn. Time to reflect and ponder. I still like the idea, but he needs a very experienced number 2. Sid and MKac as 1st team coaches at the very least.
OGS is the new manager for sure... he is clearly first choice and lets face it - he would be pretty dumb to turn down this opportunity. i haven't seen a manager who is "in talks with an interview" with a club and not get appointed.
of course you get interviews and don't get appointed villa4life87, it has happened over and over when sometimes the club dont' fancy and other times the manager doesn't fancy! Honest! Lol
The Fear
It's a case of "watch this space" for a while, which is understandable. What I can't understand is - do you not need to ask the club (Molde) even if we just want to "chat" like we do here in the UK? If they do, why the problem? Or did OSG go behind their backs?... which if the case, I can understand the "hot water".
Pride of Lions
Fear - the kind of media that has OGS has got - i aint seen a manager reject it - they normally do a rodgers / martinez where they refuse to have an interview. unless i have a memory block to manager turning down clubs job offers - even sky sports say its pretty much a done deal lol
They're a bit too public for my liking Fear. Last year was a farce with the McLaren did he, didn't he have talks lined up. The club says no and so does McLaren, then a month later, McLaren admits the rumours were true and the club lied to us. Why did they do the flashy private jet thing and then only shake hands and nothing more?? Why is Randy and Faulkner conducting these interviews when they aren't capable and why haven't we got a football man in there?? Randy is clearly no good at it looking at the Browns history and ours over 2 years. Abramovich may not get on with everyone and interferes but at least he knows football well. Hope this doesn't go like last time when several get interviewed or spoken to and then we end up with another turd in sheeps clothing!!!!!
He hasn't rejected, he hasn't been offered. It was public, it is a shame it got blown into the press but it happens now, we are all watching 24/7 there are no private meetings and there is always someone out there blabbing stuff!
Years ago mikey and me knew that Nobby was being / had been interviewed, we could have scooped it, we decided not to because we didn't know if he would get the job, if he had to go back to Newcastle etc so instead of doing the 'hits' chasing, we just left it until it was official. You don't get that these days!

Is he 100% not coming? Well, we wouldn't know that unless he got offered the job.

444, how are the club meant to stop rumours? McClaren according to my info was never on the list, never going to be interviewed and never interviewed. The forums and twitter etc made it into something that wasn't actually there. How is that the clubs fault? They can't dismiss every rumour and link. Like Martinez, they asked to talk him, he decided not to as he wanted to stick to his word with Whelan. A fair while after, Whelan broke the confidence of the approach. Is that Randy's fault? No, not at all, it is Whelan's fault.
The Fear
No need for alarm bells yet, keep calm, we could be talking about a proper process this time, which must happen to prove to us that lessons have been learnt. Also, there can't be any accusations that Villa were snubbed by anyone, strengthening the new mans position from day 1. The Fear is right regarding Martinez, he did nothing wrong by deciding not to talk to our board, but Whelan tried to belittle our club as he is still doing, the gob****e. OGS is still in the game, Fjortoft on twitter earlier thinks he is waiting for an offer, SSN have changed their angle on the story completely since lunchtime. We must have a little faith no matter how hard that might be. Talking to OGS, Lambert, Rodgers or Martinez is more promising than talking to Bruce, Allardyce or Mc Carthy.
