A journalist at one of Norway's largest radio stations just tweeted:

'Sources say Solskjær has signed for Villa. More in a bit.'

Guy from the Sun on Twitter:

Dean Scoggins ?@SunDeanScoggins

Exciting times
Stig
Great news if true, can't wait to take my little lad next season now.
briann11
Great my first choice for weeks!
Slaycj
That will do for me, young and wants to prove himself, must have been offered an half decent war chest! wouldn't think he would want to risk his reputation this early in his career doing a containment job.
eltoro
would like this to be true! looking forward to next season already!
callum_ws
Certainly brave and imaginative but must give him time and money to develop the club properly.
Matt B
Definitely the right type of manager in terms of football philosophy - calculated risk or huge gamble? 8 minutes and we might find out!
mike_field
hope this is true! would gladly start traveling back down VP if we get some excitement in our game again (even if we dont win) :P
leeb25
great news if true.glad to see the board have realised that delaying these decisions doesnt work and they need to be decisive and strong in their approach.all the messing that went around last summer we missed out on players like seb larrson on a free that would have made some difference.hopefully if true solsjkaer will bring over players of the quality of hangeland.there is great value in scandanavian leagues.
shark133
If true, it would be so good to shut up the Wigan Windbag.
jbd656
Very interesting if accurate.. I look forward to it & love the "unknown" element to it albeit slightly scary at the same time..Hooray i'm alive again! :)
danceoftheshamen
another one of fergie's six point recomendations, not sure this will work if its true , hope i am wrong. But at the moment not one to set my heart thumping................
jj184
Endured the sacking, endured the hiring - next the transfer window! God help me. Great news if it comes true
RiF
Is it april 1st
fulford
Total gamble (again). C'mon fellas, it's not about his playing history, this IS THE BPL. Where are the management credentials. Not he coached under SAF, or he has done well in a minor standard compared to the BPL. For gods sake, after 12 months of ridding eck, we're all in love with ole are we. It will be a bloody long journey IMO.
VillainYorks
Well there was never any chance Ole would end up at Liverpool! If he is to fulfill his ambition of managing United makes sense to get into the prem, besides villa pk is like uniteds second home...only disappointing thing is if all went well for him he will be off in three years when Fergie goes and we will be back to square one.So much for the long term stability...anyways at least the doom is lifted, and the whole club will be united again..UTV
OneloveVilla
why not !!
marshyboy87
It must be good news if Eltoro is happy lol
mike_field
I seriously can't believe they would go for someone who has only been a manager for just 35 games and none in the premier league. Last time it was all about experience and now it doesn't matter at all?? Massive gamble if true and I'm not sure this is the type of man who is going to sort out the dressing room.
Ams78
Is an Embaro anything like an EmbarGo? lol
jonah
Every management appointment is a gamble....let's give him a chance if it's true.
MASON_PARKER
Think JF lost it in translation...I said we'd have trouble with his name, we can't even type our own language lol
mike_field
Oley Oley Oley Oley Solskjaer Solskjaer, Nice 1 Randy brave imaginative and appointing an inspirational man as Manager can't wait for this project to begin UTV!
clivethevillan
its a great gamble if it happens. OGS is a positive thinker.
leftfoot
Would be more than happy to see this develop, and not just because anything is better than Eck, well, not much!
Charizma
randy and faulkner have gained my respect for all thats happened this week. time for a new style of football and attacking mentality. Great stuff
villa4life87
I like Ole and would be happy with that but I don't think it's him, don't believe everything lads.
AdzVilla11
most of the bookies have cleared their odds now - this looks pretty much confirmed to me with sky bet at 1/4.
villa4life87
This is interesting, apparently this is Randy Lerner's plane in Norway according to the local press - http://www.dagbladet.no/2012/05/17/sport/fotball/premier_league/ole_gunnar_solskjer/21645445/

VILLA 4 LIFE
The right type of gamble for me, where as appointing 'Eck was just as insane as it was desperate. If this is the case with Ole, it sounds like our boys have learnt their lesson and done their homework before firing the bullet. We're Gunnar win the league! (Well a lot more games at least).
Windy Villain
Definitely an exciting prospect. Could be just what the Villa need. Although, I hope it wasn't a Sir Fergie recommendation. Either that or Fergie felt guilty about sending us McLeish and he's let Randy onto a real gem this time. lol.
Lee282
Just waiting for the letter of recommendation from Sir Chewalot now....Lol No seriously, if this comes off, it could be very exciting times at VP once again. If it is true, Randy & Co will go back up in my estimation.
Pride of Lions
A huge gamble after nearly being relegated and being considered across the league as 3 away points. That being said the unknown is extremly exciting which is a welcome feeling after the last 2 years. I said I'd back whoever wasn't McLeish if Randy had enough about him to eat the humble pie and get rid of Eck and that's what i'll do.
magicmerson
Seems an insane choice to me, but after Eck anybody, or anything, will seem like a breath of fresh air.
Saurat
if anything..OGS understands that you play till the final whilstle....i'm sure he'll drum that into our team who usually pack up on 70 minutes..... not sure what to make of this if true ....... will he bring Ronnie Johnsen and Dwight along ?
reza
Can't help seeing fergie's finger prints all over this one again, lets hope it works out better than Mcleish and the Djemba twins
AVbornandbred
Gabby talks about Kev Mac .... it would be same as same as for Villa... think Ole would come in and sort players out and get them playing.
Eddy1
http://www.tk.no/sporten/article6065042.ece OGS on his way to Brum.
theprimeminister
Hope this is true certainly exciting times if it is methinks!
Dumble
I'm surprised by the almost total support - I'm in complete agreement we want a young hungry manager. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against it but isn't anyone at all nervous that he has no managerial pedegree at all? 35 games? With who? What his results were like? Lets not forget Roy Keane won everything as a player in the same team but he's got a terrible managerial record! There are a number of young, hungry managers that DO have a bit of pedigree already, which would steady the nerves somewhat. Anyone would be a risk but given 5 managers in 3 years, we need to be fairly confident the next one will get through the first season! UTV
revolutionatlast
Could be an interesting appointment - but also carries some risk. Has Randy not taken to many risks already???
leelindsay
Every manager appointment is a risk, this is a breath of fresh air for me. Well done Randy!!!
astonsteve
Talksport are confirming that Molde have allowed him to talk to villa (10am this morning)
nottinghamvillain
This excites me more than Martinez, Lambert, Rodgers and co. IF he comes in, uses the experience already at Villa Park, and tries to play decent Home football, he will have my full support.
Class of 82
Different type of risk though leelindsay we all know it may not work . Difference is with Mcleish 90% knew it would not work no doubt Randy has identified the football philosphy of the manager is very important for Villa fans.we may be jumping the gun and this may just be the first candidate interviewed.
Merlin128777
Ive have since read his Man U reserve team were champs and he took Molde to their first championship in their 100 year history. As a result Im prepared to join the "why not" camp haha :)
revolutionatlast
Okay maybe do believe the things you read :) Come on Solskjaer, if he lands it's an inspired choice and we can all look to a bright future
AdzVilla11
Nice one revolutionatlast. Welcome to the camp! Attacking football, Here We COME!
Lee282
What a gamble, what a risk. Might sound exciting to the youngsters out there, but as somebody who bitterly remembers previous gambles on Graham Turner and Dr Jo, this is scary $*!t. Hope this isn't an (albeit more creative than usual) attempt to save money again.
onlyteaminthemids
Could be a better season for us than the last..!!!! The guy is a winner in all aspects.... Now for those who moaned constantly to put their money up now and get their season tickets sorted..
jonnyvilla
I know nothing about his manegerial skills, but if it's true let's welcome him with open arms and see what he can do for us!
juddy
I think he will turn out to be a good coach. Hope it isn't just because his compensation payment is manageable compared to other candidates. These fears could be allayed by RL giving him some backing in the market. Can't see him going for crappy targets that were mentioned recently a-la Karl Henry. Who cares if someone has a good engine? If that is the only criteria just sign a load of cross-country runners! Need at least 1 experienced head to be recruited in defence, midfield and attack, followed by a clear out of the deadwood who think getting *****ted on a night out mid season is reasonable behaviour for a professional athlete! Velkommen til Birmingham Ole. Kan ikke vente til neste fotballsesong!
