Mick McCarthy IS NOT Coming To Villa

Ok, right... I won`t link to this particular article because it is ridiculous. Mick McCarthy is not being lined up, will not be on the Villa short list and is not in contact and coming to Villa Park any day soon. He would know that, the Club will know that, the paper should know that and to be fair, the fans on facebook/twitter etc going mental about it should know that.

YES... a mistake was made last season. Fine.

It isn`t going to be repeated.

Look at some of the quotes from Paul Faulkner recently. They know what happened last year, you can see that from the statement and yes, they didn`t listen... etc etc. Have you never made mistakes? Have you never been let down? They took a gamble, it didn`t work, in the long run it might work out for us as this will have shocked them and totally re-focused them I would think. As he says, we were too close for comfort to relegation instead of fighting for Europe.

'Look at the size of the club, infrastructure, the training ground, the academy. It`s one of the best in the country." Adding, "I think there`s an awful lot of reasons you would want to come to Villa. Our stadium is one of the best in the country, we have a fantastic owner who loves the club , the club`s history, the fans are phenomenal - why would you not want to come here?"

The Independent quote the CEO:

'We want to find someone to reinvigorate the club,'

Again, they know it went wrong. Even the Club statement >> Click Here admits mistakes have been made. Randy Lerner said in it:

'We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years. Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent.

Paul has admitted they went for the wrong man, we now have to afford them the right to have made a mistake and to put it right, they have acted swiftly to remove McLeish and won`t be wanting the same situation this time next year.

He said: 'It's using hindsight. If we were happy with mediocrity or a season like this, then we wouldn't be making changes.'

So panic not. There will be loads of mischief in the press, they will act as if they have it all, but until you see an announcement on the official site, no matter how well connected or not, we are all just speculating. To be perfectly honest, this is one of the parts of football I absolutely adore, I love looking at the records of managers, the links, the excitement and the will they, won`t they.

But on this one, total hogwash, not happening, move along... NEXT!

And yes, I did say similar last year re: McLeish. I knew for a fact at the point I asked he`d not been approached and put 2+2 together saying he won`t be, or he won`t approach. However, once in the press through the summer saying 'mission impossible` and 'they won`t` it was done more of an arrogant or forlorn hope that if enough people said it was mad, it would look mad and wouldn`t happen. It was worth a try but as said, was a bit arrogant really! You would also have to say, even though I`m not about to defend him, McLeish had more of a pedigree than Mick who has basically always managed the lower league types. McLeish obviously had had big jobs ie Rangers and international job with Scotland. Oh and even though the attempt didn`t work, it was right, it was mission impossible!

Is this any more stupid than your appointing Mcleish last summer?
Oh yes he is get down the bookies.
This would be a step back again we need a manager who's going to attract more season ticket sales and better players mick just wont cut it & i for one will vent anger if he is considered !!
Brendon Rogers for me ...... attack, attack, attack !!!
I tend to agree that lessons have been learnt: I think the decision to sack AM was taken after the Bolton game and the intervening time has been spent contacting the likely next incumbent to see how the land lies. This is how it's done in the real world, isn't it
Do we think there is a chance Villa got in McLeish who would be a figure of hate from day 1 so that they could get all of the dead wood out, save as many pennies as possible and then make a full on assault with a decent manager next season? Lets hope so!
Chelt Villan
it could always be worse, they could change their minds and get the big eck back.
Chelt - that was the only logical reason i could see for appointing him, but the problem was that he wasnt a cheap choice so it was a total balls up from the board. No Way should they even consider Mick...
Hopefully, no one will be considered if their surname begins with Mc or O' . Purely for historic reasons you understand . :-@
Really, the though was too ridiclous for words.......

I remember you saying the very same thing last year JP "It won't happen" it's very worrying when the biggest bookmaker in the land Ladbrokes have him at 11/8 fav, I hope your right JP god I hope your right.
Why do we have a load of Spuds fans on here recently LOL? People don't understand how the bookies work, you should go down and try it sometime, might learn something instead of believing this rubbish. People put money on an outsider because they have little knowledge of football, and then the bookies will slash those odds, it is how it works...McCarthy is not coming to Villa, move on...
Chaps - MCRelegator is being interviewed on WM at 2pm today
Can we start a fund to keep Mick McCarthy on holiday for the next 2 months, and is anyone available from NOTW to hack Faulkners calls!!
Agree 100% with Fear on this, our board have admitted they got it wrong and have even said they want to go with a different approach in appointing our next manager, also PF said he wants a manager to grow with our club and develop together does this sound like they fancy Mcarthy? Nope they want a younger upcoming manager a kind of project to develop our youth system intrigating them into the 1st team with a couple of added experianced players, i am happy with what our board has said as i keep saying lets get behind them and not panic or worry no more what ever the media or other clubs fans that luv to wind you up cos they know what has happand last season with appointing Mcleish they are just takin the pee out of us ''HAVE FAITH VILLANS'' Randy and PF realise what we want and they will give us that!
Unfortunately, JP did say that last year about AM. I assume it is the Mirror's James Nursey who said Villa have contacted MM. They must have done a bit of research to know where he is holidaying too, the odds have also tumbled which usually suggests something, though of course not that a decision was reached. I'm still convinced it does not match Faulkner's statement for someone who can reinvigorate villa, though he never stated it would be a young manager. I'm not sure we can rule this link out, which in my opinion would not inspire fans and would be disappointing for me personally.
unfortunately, if the board are still obsessed with doing it on the cheap, an unemployed manager is one thing they will look at
Unbelievable - WM have just said " Over to the lines now, to someone who knows how it feels to be sacked by text - Alex McLeish "....and some Scottish woman is going "hello? Hello?" - the presenter said "I'm sorry, i think we have you on the wrong call - Alex McLeish should be on now" - and she said "I AM Alex McLeish - I am calling in about the way my employment was terminated by River Island" Jeeeeez !
I hope to god that he is NOT coming to villa, but what makes you so sure. I have lost a lot of faith with Randy Lerner and even more with that fat nugget Faulkener, he talks from the wrong hole. Sure his Churchill-ian speech made us all think we might get some equivellant of Pep Guardiola, but this is the man who bought us Gerrad Houllier, wanted steve mc claren and showed complete dis-regard to the fans and everything Aston Villa stands for by following it up by appointing Alex Mc Cleish. To be honest, I don't think Faulkener and RL have the tactical nous to appoint a quality manager, which is one area Doug Ellis did know about. Slate me if I am proven to be wrong, but I am not holding my breath here and if they do appoint another disaster then Mr Faulkener must be held accountable, he talks a good game but I wouldn't trust him as far as i could throw him with my hands tied behind my back. Personally, rodgers, Lambert, Vilas Boas would tick the boxes, but lets just wait and see before we all get excited, we've been here before. And if i could have one final moan, i dont rate Martinez, umpteen 5th from bottom finishes in recent years does not make progression, he never joined us last time because we were too big for him (and i'm not being cocky by saying that) and he would get shown up. Rant over, prove me wrong Randy!!
....theres a possibility that one soon to be unemployed manager would be Kenny Dalglish! No thanks to that one
big old bear - Dalglish has just gone!!! And I agree, no thanks.
im terrified by this mccarthy BS - please lerner get this right
No, Mc Carthy is NOT coming to Villa, the noises coming from Faulkner suggest that the lessons of last season have been well and truly learnt and that Mick Mc Carthy, although he is a nice guy, is not a manager who will 'invigorate the club'.
