Shay Given - Fans 'Soul Of The Club'

Shay Given has Tweeted:

'Sorry to see McLeish go as he is a good man. But the fans wishes have been granted so we need to respect them as they are the soul of club.'

Only a brief article I realise, but thought it worthy.

fans the soul of the club? of course they are, but all fans think with their hearts and raerely their heads, so you cannot often rely on the majority to think rationally. in saying that of course Mcleish should have gone and he shouldnt have got the job in the first place. what I ask is what sanctions have been put upon the idiot that appointed him? as for a new manager look no further than within your club and appoint Kevin MacDonald. Now he is a manager who would have the same soul of the club that you do as fans and he would do everything in his power to improve the current situation and also would know the emerging kids inside out.

Shay Given is a good man himself, and probably recognises the personality traits of our former manager. I think the message for Shay, and others, is that the majority of fans would have given him a chance if the results and the playing style were better, and that ultimately, the decision to sack him was a business decision based on customer feedback and nothing to do with where he came from. I personally don't think he was disliked as a person, only for what was happening to the team we support.

On a different topic, JF, I liked your comments in the Post and endorse them 100%. He was always the wrong choice for the job, but not for the reasons the media have tried so often to suggest. Now it is up to Randy to get it right this time.

Fair comment re KevinMac Oxford, but I don't think he feeld he's cut out for first team coach as he dithered about last time. No, I think it has someone who has a track record, preferably in the PL. I fancy Ranieri with his experience, and he wants another go at the PL. Also Lambert of course. But it must be fairly quickly as whoever gets it has to teach the current squad how to attack again.

Oxford are you a closet Villan?
AdzVilla11
No he's not AdzVilla, he's just letting the 'Inner Villain' in him speak. Everybody has one you know. Just some more mature fans of other clubs are prepared to admit it and let it out every now and then.

@ AdzVilla11, my wife has a few of her family (brother few cousins) who are Villa fans and VP is actually nearer to me than WHL, so you might be onto something there :-)

Hahaha I knew it!! On the flip side my dad, brother ang best mate all go for Spurs!! What's happening to this world.
AdzVilla11
144 haha agreed!! I know we used to be a lot of fans supposed second team (if there can be such a thing) let's hope we can produce the type of football that we have everyone loving us again!
AdzVilla11
Inside they love us, AdsVilla. Only a few are big enough to admit it. Well done oxfordspur, your therapy is complete.

Thanks Obediah, trying to reflect what I think the majority are saying, and trying to look like I'm not talking for all as well! LOL
